Hilux Surf Headrest removal

Post by Steve_t647 »

I feel stupid asking buy a friend has purchased a Hilux surf with the recaro bucket seats in it and cannot adjust the head rest more then about 10mm and cannot remove it.

This is the front ones and we want to remove them to send the seat for repair (the seat padding has collapsed sp?) and he wants to remove the head rest to male it shorter to manoeuvre out of the surf.

Tried the net obviously everyone else can figure them out

I think it is a 1995 it is a 1kz manual!

How you suggest is how the rear headrests can be removed but the front have nothing. I think it may be the recaro design but Ihave seen other recaro's with removeable rests.

I have tried push the rest forward and back but nope and lifting it doesn't work either there is so little adjustment or they are not designed to come out.

A bit silly if he jumps in still wearing his motor cross helmet to pickup someones or his bike.

check the 2 plastic inserts into the top of the seat for a hole big enough for a straightened paper clip, thats sometimes how you release the plastic, could be the whole headrest is a one-piece unit? Just a thought...
