Pirongia voluntary rural fire brigade 4X4 Safari febuary 08
we have set the dates as the 16th and 17th of febuary 2008, the plan of attack is that people can either find there own accomodation in hamilton, te awamutu, pirongia, or people can camp at the event head quaters, (the woolshed) we will have all breifings etc from there, leaving on the saturday morning and trekking around the te pahu area, farms, native bush stream crossings etc, stopping for lunch and then continuing on to finish at a awesome little play area in the afternoon, then back to the woolshed for a little bit of light entertainment, please email pirongia@xtra.co.nz and i will send an entry form, this is to go to funding the operational costs of the rural brigade

Questions for the organisers.
1)
2)
3) One document says $140.00, the Registration form says $150.00, and then also has a "donation" box to fill, can someone on the organising committee please clarify the actual entry price and explain the addition of asking for further money?
Cheers

If factory towhooks are rated then surely they are acceptable?"standard towage hooks are not sufficient"
2)
2kg????? I have one .9kg one currently, which I had alway thought sufficient. (and OSH considers sufficient in our work trucks/utes) Am I now expected to add another two to get over the 2kg minimum?Fire extinguisher - minimum 2kg

yes if it is a rated
factory tow hook then this will be acceptable,
2)Fire extinguisher - minimum 2kg
being fire fighters i guess we know how quickly a car fire can become uncontrollable, especially once you decide that its smoke and not steam coming from the bonnet, as long as you have somthing in your truck then its better than nothing, we have to be prepared for the worst.

answer to question 3 is, the entry free is $140.00 in my mad dash to complete the entry form i obviously made a typo, as for the donation box, this is of course optional, but bearing in mind we do not receive any assistance from NZFS (new zealand fire service) some one has to pay for the petrol on our very old and very thirsty V8 international fire appliance,
cheers

Yep - 2kg is the standard for any Forest Trip for a lot of clubs
See
http://www.nzgpsmaps.com/4wd/gear.htm
and
http://www.nzgpsmaps.com/4wd/Naike.htm
Whereas ORE Club Rules state
3. A Fire extinguisher, suitable for fuel or electrical fires and a min size of .9 kg, must be carried in each vehicle at all times and must be securely mounted in an easily accessible location.
Which won't get you into any of the old CHH forests
