Larger Shackles ? Help Needed For Lift

hey guys

need to some how lift my chassis higher than the axles cause the new engines pulley just slightly touches the axle

was thinking shackle how large do i need to go to get a good lift to clear the pulley so it would touch

these are the shackles that i have removed from the front

2 inches of shackle lift is 1 inch of lift i think i was reading some where.


is the diff sitting on top of the leafs or are the leafs sitting on the diffs?

the diff is sitting on the leafs i dont want to go SOA because the jeep will be used mainly for road

the pulley is very close almost touching maybe it is touching but i had wood blocks under the bump stops to rise the chassis so i could run my engine when it was wired up

maby you should get new springs?? they sound f**ked. can you messure how long your shackles are now?.

from a geuss of a ps2 game case im thinking they are about 2.5 or 3 inches long.....

Get 6 inches or so. its iver that or do the soa

??? i put a new engine into it a 1ggte supra engine into my jeep and being straight six the engine is longer and fills the engine bay the orignal engine was only a shity 4cyl and was alot smaller than the new 1ggte engine and sat behind the diff so had no problem

Oh k so how much of a lift would 6" shackle give ? over my standerd sized ones ?

a 6 inch shackle will probly giv you 1.5 2 inches of lift maby not to sure. ..

and if that don't work then you may need to do the soa or umm what it called lift the rear of teh leafs i forgot what its called:D

soa is out of the question not doing

any other ways lol ? dont want it looking funny with 6" shackles cause its more a weekend fun show jeep

lift the springs like that. cut the bracket in half and add more metal in there to lift it

why dont u just re-arch your springs!

Check the angle of shackles when it's at rest. The shackle should be at a right angle or slightly under with no load. if the angle between shackle and spring is less than 45 degrees then the springs need resetting to adjust for the extra load of the bigger motor.

If your axle is half way along the spring then any height increase will be half the increase in shackle length.

However having said all that, if your axle is hitting the crank pulley at rest, then increasing shackle length isn't going to help a hell of a lot because it will probably still hit when the springs are compressed.

You'll probably have more success lifting your engine mounts if SOA is out of the question

Sorry yorick, but id have to disagree with you there, if you want a nice ride, then you want the shackle angles around 45deg. Load carrying is good at 90deg, but uncomfortable.

But if the jeeps are set up for a 90 deg angle, then ignore me
