what if you weld it there?? in other word bolt it weld it and put extra support??

please don't weld a tow hook as its made from cast steel or dropped forged ( not 100% sure but it doesn't matter which one )and they don't to kindly to a home welder tiring to save a dollar.and you are in deep doggie poo when you have to replace it. Tow hooks are supplied new with rated hi-tensile bolts just for you to use.
With all the messing around its far easier to mount the hook/s to the chassis . Most surfs have the mounting holes already. I have put a 5mm plate inside the chassis rail and bolted up through this and the chassis. By removing the tow bar increases the departure angle and I'm not too keen about towing a trailer around the bush thru mud holes.
TWL have tow hooks on special for about $15 + GST comes with spring clip and BOLTS /nuts etc. or Ill sell them to ya at $20.+

hi again guys, 1st chance to get near a pc, thanks for all the help.

Problem is the chassis rails are tucked way up under the body making it impossible to get to without climbing right under the car. Have talked to loads of ppl bout it and the best anyone has come up with is mounting it to one of the side brackets, and im not all that keen on that.

Would be great if anyone out there with a ln130 surf has properly mounted hooks on the back and could give some advice or pics, thanks again every1 u guys are awesome!

KZN130, rear bumper removed. The rear bar is my original rear bar from my old LN61

Rear of my YN60, shares pretty much the same chassis rails in the rear as LN61/130 etc

I made/modified my bars so can't give a price, but I would think $350 at an engineers would get you there though. Supralux may be able to give you a better ballpark figure
