Body Lift Blocks

Post by kiwipete »

Where in Chch can one get some reasonably priced lift blocks, and what price would I be looking at?

Have decided on a 75mm lift on the Terrano.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

3" body lift is a little high in my humble opinion Pete... its a lot of leverage to be throwing at your outriggers and body mount-points when you're throwing the vehicle around. I'd recommend 2 as a safe maximum...

Having said that, I can supply 2 or 3" blocks (and the bolts) if you need them, give me a PM.

The Terranos do look sweet with a body lift, eh?

This one is off a US site, with 3" suspension lift, 3" body lift and 33" tyres.

I used 50 or 60mm on the Surfs, not sure about a terrano but you should be able to see your body mounts and see what diameter they are and buy rod the same diameter

On ya mate, am green with envy :salut:

Engineers at my work hate anyone using their (companies) gear, let alone doing forieners for others.
Im thinking along the lines of a 60mm lift now> split the diff btwn the 50 and 75 as sone think 75 is a little too high, although all the Yanks go for the 75mm lift without probs.

Don't forget a body lift has to be certified. I don't mean to rain on your parade, It just needs to be considered.

There are alot of little things to consider when doing a body lift.

Fuel Filler / Fuel lines
Hand Break cable/s
Break lines
Steering Shaft Length / Firewall penetration
Clutch Cable / Line
Various Electrical connections
Various Water/ Air / Oil lines
Shifter / Tunnel clearance / length / Boot
Radiator / shroud
Gap guards
Front and rear bumper lift
Exhaust

The lift itself is straight forward, but the small things can take time to sort , I'm still noticing things that are pulled a little tight . I would recommend spending alot of time under your truck looking for everything that could possibly be an issue. And then it still needs to pass the off road test

as far as the certing goes, i fully know about that, the body lift is only the start of things being done which all need certing when finished.

1, body lift
2, tubular bars front n rear
3, side protectors
4, new A/C air compressor, having to drop the origonal A/C 25mm to squeeze it in..................
