i am looking for a 54m socket so i can remove my broken CV from the vx.

does anyone have one that i can borrow PLEEASEEEEEE :)

Sorry, just checked and my 3/4 set only goes up to 50mm, jebus thats one big CV nut :shock:

is this nut the 2 that bolt up tight against each other? that ya have the lock tab go between etc?

You better buy one as I am sure it won't be the last one you break. They are inherently weak on the VX's. Worst case is you could use a coal chisel and hammer to loosed it.

i am starting to think that Al and i think i may have to get a spare cv to so i can do the change out on he track.

cher for lokking billy, and smoky Yes i am as the workshop manual saids so :cry: it was in CAPS too.

i got a scoket from my man thats will do most of the work on the truck and his set only went to 52mm :roll:

Hi someone said getting them hardened (the CV) makes them almost as good as a longfield.

Do you know anyone that you can get it cryo treated out at the airport? I have a Hilux and carried a spare CV, had to fit it I used plumbers vice grips on those nut's no socket would fit down over it.

I also have a replacement locking washer for next time. the two washers are for holding the wheel bearing etc in place and once adjusted right should be fine.

When I do mine I check the wheel bearing a couple of day's later and adjust (tighten) if needed.

Oh doing one of these on the track I would recommend a plastic mat it took ages to find where i put all the bits (that bloody circlip) :oops:

I've both read on either pirate on marlin, and from the winch challenge guys, that cryoed isn't very successful :(
Also a firm in Wellingto was doin it but I can't recall the name.........anyone :?:

Yes read about that on Pirate; cryo treatment renders them brittle.
