Yep enjoyed the day. 30 mins before it was to start I still didn't know if I was going or not and there was still a 20 min drive ahead if I did.

Have been doing the diffs so it was its first start up for a month or so. Spent some time getting it started after one of the batteries had been charging over night. Starter would spin but not engage. Tow started easy but still not by the starter. Fixed itself later.

Had to adjust and bleed the brakes which got done with some assistance and a quick delivery of extra brake fluid from Dave (one of the MU drivers)

Had to check the 4wd etc was working to check the chewed hoses were connected right. No problems.

Dashed in to Rangiora to fuel up and flew up to the gorge to arrive at 10:15 sharp! Started airing down but ran out of time so went at 20/25/25/25.

Had the young fellow who was helping me last weekend with us along with his sister, friend, mother and foster sister. Was a new experience for them and they had a great time and the mum was even asking how much a truck like that costs (young chap was "Yeah Mum!" ). I might need earmuffs if I try driving sideways on banks again with a 16y/o girl on board!

No breakages, didn't need a recovery, no wet carpets, but ended up with truck full of broom flowers thanks to passengers!

Good trip all round!
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

I should auctually say what I mean :?

I was saying Grade 3 as an all round as an average grade but I was also saying 4 for some of the smaller trucks on some of the obstacles I threw in for you guys to make it more interesting

hope that helps

Yes must have been after us Okukuites headed out...

(Heading through the thick broom on a side excursion up the Okuku we stumbled across 3 chooks frantically running up the track...)

ok...ok....about 3-4mins into the trip I was crawling along in the river right at the back of 20 odd trucks with Daddy'o' in front of me in his D/C lux......busy talking to my boys, and thinking my truck is so big nothing stops it.....I thought why have we stopped moving :?: , going so slow I didn't hear or feel the front diff ride up onto the only good sized boulder as far as the eye couldn't see
high and dry I reach for reverse....no luck.....big time right foot forward and reverse......no luck, look under truck and both front wheels are outta the water with air under them and back end nearly in water up to bumper
Quick call to Daddy'O' and i'm free :P
that was painful :fire:

oh! That explains that hold up! The truck I expected may have had the problem was out of the water and heading our way!

Good thing it was the rock's fault not your truck :)

It seems no one else has added any photos to the trip album :?: :?:

Except the ones from QUADRACER.

If you have some photos from the day, but can't add them to the album, just flick them to me in an E-Mail, and I will add them for you.

I'm sure we weren't the only ones there with a camera :?
