Clutch fluid

Post by jumper »

I noticed there was a leak around where the clutch assembly mounts to the firewall on the engine side so i pulled the reservoir cap top half looks clear bottom half looked grey so i stirred it up and it now looks like a grey metallic paint.

Is this normal or is it something else to put on the fix list :?:

Ummm, nah, that's not really all that good for your clutch fluid to look like that....

Yup, I'd replace it  At a guess, it's either dirty, or corrosion..... either way, not good

If there is a leak rob around the firewall it sounds like the clutch master cylinder has a leak.

I would take the cylinder off and pull it apart and clean the bore up and chuck new seals in it.

Once that's done bleed the slave cylinder so all the air comes out until the fluid runs clean.

Repco or BNT should have a rebuild kit for the cylinder. Might be worth checking the price on a new cylinder as they aren't that expensive any more.

Matt.
