all that travel , just from soggy old std. springs and a spring over ?????

i bet there's a few people pi$#ed after spending big bucks on after market springs .

a few hair cuts ago I did the spring over to an old LJ50 suzuki , i thought it had more flex but every one told me i was dreaming and it was just the wizzy shackles i made . ( opening ones )

cheers AL

i was gonna say theres not much in it man, but.... that last pic really shows whats goin on...and my trucks got it goin on :D

safari is still pretty good tho

whats got me wondering is why does the back of the safari have good flex and the front lets it down ?... does it just need longer front shocks maybe ? more supple coils ?.... might be an easy fix to get it flexing like an.....36yr old cruiser

Its mainly the shocks in my case, but also the twisting action your asking the bushes that hold the radious arms to the Diff to do.

You can get all sorts of crazy bits that make it work better, but at the end of the day a front diff lock may be the best answer......................

It can be done:

i think your truck in that last pic is just a bit further back over that hole pete, makes it look worse than it is as its slightly leaned over to the other side.i think if we put mine there it would be  off the ground as well.... but still better

Nah, your just being generous

I was looking at the pic's closely last night, and i messed up, i thought you had driven accross the drain facing up hill and towards the hedge/fence, but you were facing down hill and away from the hedge/fence.

So the trucks are in the same spot, but going through the drain in opposite directions

Don't know if the would make much of a difference.

I still need longer front shocks. I should take the shocks off and then drive through it

Thats damn nice flex in there... I'm thinking about a 2JZ-powered spring-over high-steer, simexed 40 as my next project... thinking about it anyway... I really should probably finish the Hilux (hell, I SHOULD finish the MU :P) first.

Nice, I like it... (no, that doesn't mean I will buy it :P)

Hi Dieselboy
compare apples with apples, try taking out the front radius arm bolt on the left side and try that obstacle again, thats assuming you have no front antisway and your front shocks have enough travel

Nope.

Thats with the shocks absolutly at their limit.

I need to buy a pair of shock towers from a wrecker and then cut them in half. My front shocks are just wasted.

I have been thinking about making a removable pin to replace one of the rear bolts. Not much point till i havethe shocks sorted out though
