hi guys,

I have a 1996 KZJ78 and I really want to do that upgrade. I have bought my car with a customized exhaust starting with 2,5" after the factory turbo dump. Can anyone tell me what the original diameter of the exhaust line is? Was wondering if 0,5 " will make much of a difference?

I am from the other part of the world, AUSTRIA not AUSTRALIA, we do have a lot of 1KZ-T(E) engines in our Landcruisers but I haven´t found anyone who did this modification and rarely find someone who thinks it´s worth it.

Great work by the way!

thanks
Peter

The factory dump pipe has a very big restriction in it due to the fact it sweeps over the chassis rail in the KZJ78 prado.... Chokes down to about 50 - 40% smaller that the rest of the exhaust. It makes a noticable difference when its replaced with something better. As for the rest of the system 2.5" diam is getting good results. I cant recall the exact size of the factory system.. 2 inch to 2 1/4 rings a bell...

Thanks Calvin, very helpful.
Just got hold of a worn out turbo including dump pipe today and man that is a crooked thing...

I understand that only the first90 degree bend is 2,5" and from there you go 3" ?
need to do something. unfortunately I am not that skilled will have to convince my cousin to do the job...
I keep you posted.

cheers
