Oooops? Pulled out by a Jeep

I have some good videos but they are too big.
Good event but not a lot of common sense shown by some spectators, I liked to get as close as possible but you can quite easily anticipate what the navigator/truck is going to do next but people just kept standing there?
I heard quite a few complaints from competitors/wannabe marshalls.
DieselBoys Suzi sounded good on song

i woulda been right by ya while i was watching then
Re: Manukau Winch challange Oct 2009
yep alot a spectators and support crew were getting a bit to close, ya tell them to move cause they are on the course, so they move down hill
then you say NAH you are still on course, what if they rolled, then they move up hill a car length away from a peg, then you see em all quickly make a dash as a truck comes burning towards them.... bit hard sometimes to tell people to piss off when theres a dozen of them and when ya trying to watch a competator at the same time

What a blast.
Huge thanks to the Manukau 4wd club for putting their hands up to run the event, the marshells, track setters and all the others behind the scenes.
We had a ball after installing a new AFM at scruitenering.
Truck ran sweet all weekend and drove onto the trailer after prize giving.
Think we may have been the only ones that completed every track set as we ran both the ones that were pulled.
Damage list
Bent drag link and tie rod.
leaking trans fluid from front of box somewhere (and its milkypink not red)
thats it so far but its not clean yet so???????

Congrat's on the class win Meatc
Same Goes to Madaz
We had a blast
Busted a T.Case mount early Saturday. Brand new Nolathane mount just delaminated
Was second up on the first night stage trying to follow meatc's line though some tree's and the tyres let go and slide sideways into a tree HARD. At the time i thought the roll cage took it all, but it bent the side bar and the alloy door flexed so much that it bent the B pillar into the cage
Brake's are dodgy as, they keep needing to be pumped up,then would be sweet for age's like a few hours, even over night, then would dissapear half way through a stage and the pedal would go to the floor.
Otherwise a clean bill of health and drove it onto the trailer
Finished something like 7th which we where stoked about
A few silly things let us down, like a Marshal not telling us there were man made winch anchor points on stage 1 stage in the creek, so we did the whole stage on the ground anchor, DNF'd a stage when they pulled a stage we would have driven easily and changed it for a back up stage that would have drowned the low slung zook
(thats just luck of the draw), also i was starting to get peeved with the wheel spin rule. With my tyre's, you have to get the wheels spinning fast in 3rd to get moving, and everytime I did, they would pull me up for excessive wheel spin, even though I was moving forward and the vehicle gathering forward momentum. Guess they are not used to seeing how you have to drive a light truck
Big thumbs up to the organisers, it was good fun, and there's some funny photo's in circulation
Bring on Taupo

Sunday ended up being a long day on Stage 10.
Great to see all the different lines taken by the competitors - everybody I spoke to has new found respect for those hard working co-drivers.

it was a winch challenge Pete
moving forward is not relevant to the rule
Yeah, that rule is highly contentious and pretty subjective in my opinion. I might post a discussion in another thread about that, lets leave this one for feed back and kool photo's

Re: Manukau Winch challange Oct 2009
from those pics didnt look to be much winching, not that im complaining and I would imagine nor were the drivers if it was so as winching is generally slow and boring (not for the navi though)
looked like a good event for dodzees truck. wonder where thats parked up

was shit loads a winching mike, ground was real soft, anchors wernt setting, thats where most were lossing their time, not having any luck finding hard ground, we were easy with the wheel spin rule on our stage (though not too easy) just because it was so soft everywhere, a little bit had to be expected and the competators wernt abusing it so was all good
Re: Manukau Winch challange Oct 2009
Was an awesome event had a really good time.... Got a bit of training to do for the Taupo one now though. Gotta get use to carrying the ground anchor around

Re: Manukau Winch challange Oct 2009
Cheers to the Manukau Club for organising a awesome comp.
Good hazzards/stages that were well thought out and didnt favour any particular type of truck.
Everyone was friendly and awesome atmosphere to race in.
Tim
P.S. Are you guys gonna post up the results and stage times?

The ground anchors that didn't hold was more to do with poor ground anchor design. The good ones will hold in most things but alot of the ones I saw had all the angles wrong.

Have to dissagree with that Darin ,We very rarely have problems with mine setting ,on a couple of stages there it looked like a bloody tractor had been plouging the field ,no matter what Dion tried it would not set seemed to be a thick layer of top soil plus wet ground caused the problem for the heavier trucks

Re: Manukau Winch challange Oct 2009
Awsome event...had a great time...hope to see you all at the next 1

excessive wheel spin....

nice action shot, i seen ya do that, duno why she ran away though, was already soaked, whats a little more muddy water
So what did Satellite say to offend the zuk so much?

lots of wheel spin is how high revving Zuks gain traction and momentum. once that momentum starts, watch out.
