ok dudes lets get some dates sorted august might be a go half achance of a bit of water by then 
and might have to organise a disclaimer as i dont want a court case off a landrover owner because it got wet and stopped 
one rule on my behalf is that you only get one go at the climbs as it will make it harder for the last people round if every body has dug huge holes

Agreed on that one brother
Only problem if they can't get up the hill, how do they get a time for the course. Do we have easy go arounds to get them back on track past the hill they couldn't get up. Give us a yell when you get back from the Uk Rik and I will gladly help.

I've not looked at this thread before but it's interesting to see people sort of reinventing the wheel. I noticed a reference by one person to the Laurie Sanson fun trial series run around the north by NZFWDA clubs.
Why not just ask for some rules from one of those clubs and then find a block of land to run an event. Setting the courses is an art in itself but even there, a note to the NZFWDA might find you someone with that experience. A criteria for NZFWDA insurance cover is that planned high risk activities should be notified to the NZFWDA who may chose to check with their insurers. Competitors are not insured while competing but the organisers of an approved event are covered for public liability etc.
I've not been involved with the Trials scene but have been involved extensively with winch challenges and know that there are safe and unsafe ways to set courses. I also know it's easier to ask for advice and help rather than re-invent things.

yep good idea Peter. There are lots of affiliated clubs running various comps. I'm sure any of them will be happy to pass on rules. Saves, as you say re-inventing the wheel...and that process usually goes round and round in circles (excuse the pun) and get everyone's back up with dis-agreements.
