It is weak to do what others think Pete.

If you like them, stick with them.

People dont like things about my Hilux, but as far as I am concerned they can get stuffed. Its what I want.

righto

so you dont want beadlocks for the road

but want a sexy looking wheel

well, how about something that looks similar to your awesome beadlocked steel wheels but will be nicer to drive etc etc

and maybe a bit of bling to boot

Image

bear in mind, you can get different coloured rings that bolt on the face 8)

I think they would look a bit better all the same colour. The shiney bits at the end of the spokes make them look like they have no dish. They did look a bit better in the mag. If they aren't quite what you were after then look for some other ones or they will always piss you off. Made that mistake before.

they just dont look the same

you could possibly paint out the ends of the spokes black and just leave a ring around the edge, similar to your beadlocks

or better still, get some black tape and put it over the chunky chrome/silver bits at the end of the spokes, then stand back and look at it, take a few pics from different angles and look at them

maybe post them up here for more varied opinions

myself personally am a huge fan of your beadlocks colour scheme, its exactly what I'm gonna do to my 10' rims when I get them beadlocked later in life

They wouldn't be my choice, but only because of the "I'm a bogan" black. Other than that those rims look shit hot.
I honestly don't get what people thinks looks cool about bead locks.

If you like your rims Pete, keep the farkin things. I personally like your idea of brushing up the alloy :P
(my opinion anyway)

Good ideas there skid.
I originally wanted polished alloys. No black. But then a mate showed me that mag with those rims. It's his fault. lol
I recon i sell them as new and get my coin back. They're look better on a newer truck.

Yeah, I do like my 10 beadlocks aye. Though they are street legal. I didn't buy them for everyday use.
I'll see what the next set looks like.

One other issue with those rims was the offset and only being 8 inchs wide. I was looking at 50mm spacers and replacing the 26mm ones only because the offset wasn't enough.

So the next set will be 10 inches wide. We'll see how they look.

Last thing.
I'm thinking about replacing the axles with 60 series ones for the extra width. And coiling the front end.
Just a thought at this stage..

That's it, your'e farked. The end of a daily driver that statement, the ongoing mods will now keep it more off the road than on!

You could be right! But I recon it shouldn't take to long. After all. It's just the front end for the major mod. 60 series axle in the rear won't need anywhere near as much work.
It's an idea at this stage rok. :D

I think they're fine, but they're typically fitted to 4WDs in the states which are less then a couple of years old, they do look a bit out of place on your old dunger :P

If you still wanna replace them you got a bit of extra cash, thanks to your 8" rim auction...

Had to draw the line somewhere though :( Waiting on a tax refund and didn't want waste your time haha

Yea thats right its his truck and we have our own preferences and ways we like to Mod our own individual trucks etc.

If i listened to all the crap on this site i wouldn't of bobbed my wellside and fitted a V8 to my Hilux as apparently those 2 mods just ruin a Hilux and make it shite off-road

I personally think the Alloys that 4wd Bits sell would look great on your truck Pete, and they could be polished up if you wanted aswell.

Got the second set of new rims on today.
Look a bit better than the last, well. I think anyway. You can't please everyone.
Having the BFG's on 10 inch rims makes a huge difference to how it drives to the 8's.
It's nice to get off the Simex rubber, I can tell ya. Towing with them is a little hairy.

colour me cruel but you have no shiney bits, but the bling wheels. Needs more bling to set them wheels off.

Having said that they are better then the others (in a picture that is, have no idea what either of them looked like IRL).

So what did you mean by drives better with wider rims?

Once they get dirty they'll look better. :D

Re driving better on 10inch rims? What i meant was. The walls of the tires aren't so ballooned. The walls are straighter. So it feels like it corners better Heath. Mind you. After towing stuff with the Simex's and trying to corner at speed. Anything is an improvement from that! But those BFG's were on 8inch rims. They feel good/safer cornering while towing at speed.
I'm towing the buggy up to Hanmer in the morning. I'm looking forward to that.

"now about dem tahs"

When i read that, all I can hear is Carmen from Southpark.

They're $450 a corner skid. $1800 for a set is big money in anyone's book. Damn it!
How do they perform on the road? They perform like the rubber on the Holden mate. Like shit to a plankey.
I've been amazed at how stable they feel off the clock. But then the clock only goes to 160.
Once they are warm you can flick it round most corners at speed and know it's going to hold. I love em. just don't like the cost and how fast the rubber wears. (on my truck)
