Cheers John.

91 pages of crap.
Sorry for all the pix from photobucket missing.

Over the years I've had the 40 I've had people think I'm nuts having a LS1 in a 40 for a round town/tow thing. Not to mention, spending all the extra on extra's, that I'll never get my money back on.

So clearly. Who every ends up with it will have an awesome truck.

Well folks. It was sad to see her go. But the 40 has gone now. So this is the end of the thread (at long last). :D

Here's the new owner. Chris. A bloody good chopper pilot. He was very happy with the truck.

Bro's mods on his truck.

After his guards were cut he needed to weld in some more metal to screw the flares to. (new mig welder there bro, sweet. he doesn't need to use mine all the time now)

Image

Then he needed to extend the front guards to cover the 35's on 27mm hub spacers.

Image

Then in the end it'll look like the finished side.

Well done bro.

Coz I stuffed up on photobucket a while back there are pix in this thread that are missing. So after someone asked for some pictures of the balance pipe I thought I'd throw up what I had.

If anyone else wants info or pictures that might be missing from the thread just ask and I'll do my best to throw up what I have to help out. If anyone can learn from my experiences over the years from owning this truck, great.

The pix are in no particular order. But over the time I owned it the system changed 3 times.
Adding the balance pipe as close as pos to the headers was the biggest improvement out of all the improvements.

I was pleased to hear the guy that brought my 40 had not sold it to someone overseas via ebay but sold it 3 months ago to a fella living on a farm up north close to Cambridge. He contacted me today asking about the trucks paint and where to get.
So good to know it's with someone with a few more clues this time. Has owned BJ's and FJ's before. It was good to hear that it's running well and that he's very pleased with it. He brought it for $22k.

Tell me about it mate. That was the biggest issue I had with the old 40. I even fitted an engine oil cooler as well.
The radiator was made by Scott at A1 Radiators here in Chch. It was purpose built. Set me back near on a K. Tripple core. I had a hydraulic powered 'big ass' fan with custom shoud behind it too. Had to get it de-tune coz it was so freaking loud.
Think I got a video of just how loud it was.
Found it. (me being a cock)
http://youtu.be/dBlPiUyxaSg
Skip it to around 1.20 seconds and you'll know what I mean.

I found that if the fan was mounted too close to the radiator it caused the air to cavitate.
I used to tow heavy stuff behind that 40 all the time and in the end after all the mods, it didn't over heat.

It's not my truck anymore James.
You might want to look at the rest of the build thread to see how the guards were fabricated before posting.
They were made that way.
:D

Most (pretty much all) the people that saw how the guards looked, to make way for the 35 inch tyres? Actually thought it looked ok.

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.
