so just to remind you all that the vehicles that sustained damage occurred between the loop gate and the river camp shelter spot so if you carry on past the loop gate on the main track it gets a bit rough on your plastic bits that stick out as you follow the track down heading to the river camp, thats the main track not the loop.

and remember to put your $10 per vehicle in the box at the start of the road for the guy who does the maintenance on the track.

he mentioned the last bunch from auckland of around 10 vehicles from a club that shall remain un-named put money in the box that totaled $5......... shame on them

the loop gate is before you get to the shelter by/just past the river, so as your driving allong up past ABC rock but not that far the gate is on the left. its on a decline part of the track and if you keep going past it you get to the river and shed/camp. thats the piece of track that if you really dont want rubbing on your flares etc then you may want to turn round there... but thats no fun is it!!!!

maratoto loop = 1
4th Surf front diff = 0
And i swore i wouldn't take it past the shelter

reason we stopped was the truck high rut , with a couple of 1 foot rock shelves on the way up.

great day , defiantly not a shiney track. amazed i still have all 4 flares, and yeah didn't want to leave kopu , good company , good view.
Drove back via Miranda / Cleavdon to wind down after the day

those that had to be rescued took the hard option, unlike someone who always chose the nana options
