Good luck, seems you have a lot to learn :?

I agree with Nathan they pretty much are a slightly more aggressive A/T tyre so when he says he wants a more off-road orientated tyre its a fair comment.

Had a good day today. Didn't achieve a whole lot but did manage to collect and order some additional parts.

Put the bar back in with the new brackets and welded bar in place on them.

Image

Thought long and hard about front window demisting and heating and decided that the demister element is the best idea really. Means I dont have to piddle around with ducting and I can be more inventive with where I tuck the heater away.

Image

It fits really nice up in here and also means the driver has heat priority.... :-D which suits me fine. hahahaha.

Oh and put my first guard. One is still being cleaned up. and yeah its sitting about 5mm high. gotta do some trimming.

Fark is she hot now.

replied.

Went to coby again today- tomorrow i pick up my flanges and tons of pipe bends/collector cones etc.

Awesome guys to deal with and if you want to DIY your own manifold I very much recommend them.

The best part is the guy has offered to weld up my tacked manifold for FREE. Reckons if its tacked up it'll only take him 15min as they do so many.

AWEEeeeeesome.

When are you doing a trial fit of the body to see how well the motor fits in the hole?

Ok, i chose individual flanges over one or two piece because I didn't want any issues with gaskets popping etc.

to hold them all in place I made a surrogate head . Unfortunately after taking the time to drill holes accurately etc I got home to find that the 12 bolts i had were too bloody short   so ended up welding the flanges in place- welded straight through the paper and spray adhesive. ruthless 8)

More pics tomorrow when all pipes are tacked together.

I think its looking ok for my first attempt at a manifold- but its certainly not what i wanted when I originally started. I didn't control the pipes. The pipes controlled me.

Got the rest of my cheap gauges. I'm going to swap the mechanical gauges for stepper motor ones as the stepper motor gauges I have are just so much higher quality than the ultra ultra cheap ones.

Thats 80mm stepper motor boost, 60mm stepper motor EGT and 50mm everything else in the pics.
EGT gauge seems to read far too high considering at 500 degrees start melting things :?

Guards, bonnet and chassis needs to be undersealed. Kinda going to enjoy some quiet painting.

REALLY am starting to get a compulsion to get into one or two events when its finished- I've never had that desire before.

500 deg is no big deal for a TD42? Or have I missed something and you have changed the motor?
TD42 can handle 600 deg and 700deg in bursts without much worry. Mind you 700 deg has life of about 30 sec!

I ran mine for years to 550, that was comps and on road as work truck. It isn't that long ago that we were racing our daily drivers!

 nah the problem is that my gauge is actually reading degrees C wheres i think you are talking about degrees F ( or visa-versa). I'll have to make little sticky tape arrows on there to remind me where the bad zone is.

Trucks now being taken to a place in town to have the work done as Vvega has too much on his plate with his own truck. :( not a problem though- means I have access to plasma cutting magic eye machinery to trace out my templates on real steel.

Have also made some calls and decided on type of paint and color. I'm going to be using a 600 enamel with a hardner- easy to spray and touch up etc and 95% of the shine is there straight off the gun.

have taken two days off work to work on the truck- I'm undersealing everything to keep noise down and also fitting random parts like the bonnet pins and guards.

Nah I'm definitely talking degrees C. use to run mine at 1100 F or 550 C.
