OK well jusr finished mounting the vaccum operator for the vgt turbo. Im waiting for my qd32 to turn up and Im going to bolt it straight on to that before it goes into the truck.
The std qd32 turbo makes 64% torque than the td27 turbo and with some tweaks I cant see why I cant get twice the torque I have now. Thats going to put a smile on my face and a frown on the people in the lane beside me

Well I pulled the engine out of the navara and going to put it on an engine stand and get it ready for the terrano.
head off
check the bearings
port the head
12mm pump head and turbo compensator on the pump
vgt turbo and manifold.

Its easier than that. It just bolts in. I already have the heavy duty gearbox in there so its not an issue with strength either. Its going on the engine stand to start with to let me check it over. I also need to fit rb30 valve springs due to the n/a diesel having such low valve spring tension from the factory. The std qd32 turbo has a heap more torque then the std td27 so it will make it awesome for slinging mud around.

I hope it hauls and lays down coal as well, Ha ha

I have the front end sorted so it can handle the stress. I just need to do the bushes and I am going to put new heavy duty shocks in it as the ones I got on it now cant control the rebound even though they are new

you have a td42 ?? same as a td27 just longer??
Try and get hold of two qd32 intake manifold and make a high flowing intake manifold for it. heaps more torque

His went just like mine, Craig 8)
Mind you that was before the last round of mods.
Here's my pic of the beastie.

Wax, going to be fitting the lightened flywheel? i take it it was a NA motor with 6 bolt flywheel? That standard flywheel looks huge.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Hey simion. Im going to use the td27 light weight that on it now. They are massive and you would struggle to lift them off the floor by yourself. They are also for a 250 clutch unlike the 240mm of the td27 so they pick up some weight there

I might have to take a trip across just to see this beasty! Very keen for progress updates (on both the compound navara and the vgt terrano 8) ) :!:
Where did ya get 12mm head from? and you do the swap head/compensator swap yourself?

the 12mm head comes out on a 4b izusu engine. if you use the rd28 fuel spring it will let it rev to 5000 before it pulls the fuel out the stock td27 is 4200 and the qd32 is 3800.

Ok well still working away on it but slowly, I have been racing my scooter and so time has been short.
This is the motor today with the intercooler and piping just needing welding and then its ready to go. I also linished the manifold to make sure it all flat.

Im really looking forward to getting this in the truck and so it will throw more sand at the beach.

Yeah its a bit big. But it will get to full boost at 2000 rpm on a 4 litre Toyota so I reckon it will be ok on a qd32.
Std they run at 32psi Not sure how the qd is going to like that

I have been playing with my mates qd32 twin turbo. Its insanely fast, so much that cars struggle with it off the lights and really have no hope once its rolling. Its really upset me as the terrano feels so slow now

Bit more motivation to gets yours in then?!
Whats he done for fueling? Bigger internals in the pump like your setup? I'm guessing hes got a front mount inty? (can't see piping in pics, so I'm a guessing thats where it goes)
