ORE Welly Training Day - October

I had a great time apart from like last time at aotea just as i start to leave something breaks last time it was a hole in the back of the water pump this time the rear diff pinion sheared off.
It happened as i was running the 40 in a bit of gorse to get a bit of mud off the underneath, the gorse was on the right of the hill where bubba went sideways, nothing over the top just a bit of right foot up the hill rolled back down and could not move.
Got out the 40 and looked underneath and no drive shaft it was up the hill with half the pinion attached, ran to the entrance and jerry gave me a tow to the entrance but in the last 30m the wheels locked up he then gave me a lift to turoas who had a semi floater diff which he converted to a full floater diff( turoa can you do a write up of how) went back to the block and pulled the axle shafts and got towed to turoas where we replaced the diff.

Yes we did have permission to go in the river, mark did that the day before and organised the key etc....He also got permission for Aotea :lol:

It did that back in 1980 for 13 weeks but all week was pancake flat (I use to be stationed at Shelly Bay)

we went down but not too far. me+rod+malcolm went the farthest, and we stopped when it got to a crossing that looked a bit deeper and soft. I was keen to give it a go, but at the time it was me and bubba and we didnt have a rope, and I was only 2wd, so had to give it a pass.

Im keen to try it though next time with teh project

Currently half way through marking the papers and have to say the ones so far have been excellent

Some people expressed interest in another course as they missed out on this one. I've got a couple of mates going up in the first weekend of December so I can run one then for those that missed on the one just been. December 1st and 2nd, hopefully can get access to that water crossing and aotea again
