Will be coming from Tawa tomorrow morning, I take it the magatuks entry is the quickest rather than through Rallywoods.
Can somone post up where that entry is.
Cheers

remember when you came out the gate at the welly anniversary trip
half way along raumati straights on the right hand side of the road
go to google maps and type in.....................
Maungakotukutuku Rd
and it should take you there, half way along the road after some straight bits you can see the tracks on the right of the road
will attempt to pinpoint it exactly for ya, but my geekiness isnt the best
http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=d&saddr ... =UTF8&z=14try that

Nick its the same place as the quad biking place , its signposted and is the 1st or 2nd exit past mckay's crossing?, just head over the train tracks and follow the road up, theres a right turn and a nice gravel road to get up. at the top there was a small creek to cross.

Come through McKays Crossing and turn right a kilometer down the highway onto Waterfall Rd. Keep going until you come to Maungakotukutuku Rd on your right. Follow that up the hill and down the other side till you come to Dusty's 4xfour Adventures place and your there.

Thats good news mate . We were a bit worred how you would get home
It was a big night last night.. Deb and me thought we would head in to have a beer or two after tea about 730
As we crossed the bridge there came a call for help over the PRS. Mark and a mate had been for a quick trip down the river about 430 and drowned the whale.
All the Cavilary arrived from the green hut to help.Reece Badnews and Hainzy headed down river to pull the whale back to dry land
On the way down Hainzy found one of the holes was a bit deep so we had two trucks not running
By about 10pm we had got everyone out of the river .Mark thought he had better get the family home so left the Whale at the bridge we went to the green hut for a beer.
Hainzy wanted some Oil for his truck so we said we would take him to the servo
We got to the gate only to find it was locked so back up to hut to get the key
With key in hand we set off again its about 1230 by now
As we were heading down moonshine road Deb asked about knocking sound ? I said dont worry its not Terminal...
Next thing the front left wheel comes off the 70 and trys to hide in the long grass
Of course Ive lent BeerTara my highlift jack. I gave him a ring got him out of bed to bring jack and pick up oil
We got home about 230am

Shit sounds like a few of you guys had some night
Hope all you guys with drowned trucks come out of it alright
Well we all met up as planned at the Maungatuk gate at 9am and waited till about 10.30 till Reece and the rest of the boys made their way accross the aka's to meet us with the key, I didnt beleive any of the rummors about you guys drinking too much last night, or sleeping in or just getting lost in the forest and I'm sure it was true about the Whakatiki being in flood and you guys having to drive around the long way
So once we got through the gate and away, we made good time accross the aka's to rallywoods for a lateish BBQ lunch, shit all these youth group guys with Fweddy bring their own cooks so we were able to send Curly home early and give him the day off
Coz of a late lunch and being a few hours behind schedule we had to make another hasty trip back accross the aka's to drop everyone back off at the Maungatuk gate again, was a bit more slippry on the way back after a day of drizzle and I'd swear craig had a couple of lockrites in that people mover of his the way he got up all those slippry hills
Ya done a shit hot job on organising the day Reece and helpers, and I think your still up at Rallywoods cleaning up and towing another toasted truck out with a few others as I type..... much appreciated

I'm sure all your lot enjoyed themselves Fweddy coz I know we all did

Got home at 9:00pm, dropped Gazza and his dead truck in Petone, they dropped Taylor of at home.
Apart from the (cough) broken trucks i.e. drowned whale (
Nissan), drowned
Toymota of Haynzy's and Gazza drowned
Toymota Surf

(patten here?) it was a great weekend, thanks to all that helped out and to all that assisted with seats, we couldn't have done this without your help.
I am looking forward to the next trip in the Aka's and want to get to the slippery forest.
The river crossing Jerry and Sadam are talking about is "The Long Crossing".. I don't know what the problem was really, I didn't have a problem getting over it....
*cough cough water in truck floating sideways and saying go ya b arch.. you can do it*Again, thanks to all that came to support our first but not last trip into the aka's!
