Sams coilovers are in

However..................... It appears that the coilovers themselves haven't been set up correctly. The bloody thing is sitting 75ish mm highter than it was, which is causing problems
And being a Saturday nothing can be done till Monday
On more pleasant note managed to score abit more droop.

Run it up the ramp forwards and the rear flexes nicely. The coil overs need abit of tickling yet.

because of weight transference on travellin up the ramp, as tom said, forward to test the rear and vice versa..
looks good tom.. sup with the tickles? spring rates/lengths?

Valving is too soft it seems and groove for circlip to hold the adjuster thread is in the wrong place. Oh yeah and the nylon slipper is way to loose around the body. All abit gutting really
Sams onto it tho. Hopefully he'll let us know whats the go

well i trailer'd it into autolign today as it is not really safe to drive on the road haha. They have sent the shocks back to Auckland to get revalved to at least twice what they were and the final decision was to run shorter coils with a bigger spacer. The shorter coils will stop the springs from 'S'ing and should also stop the springs from becoming bound as although its a shorter coil there is greater pitch between each coil. The coils that i was first given had over 10 full coils each which meant there was a large amount of metal to bind up. thicker wire and a lot less turns will help this tim believes. We will see on Thursday when i get the shocks back.

why did you choose to go with a car suspension outfit instead of going with proven fox coil overs ?
interested as I'm looking at going down this path myself

Bilstein also make offroad coil overs and shocks. They have an extensive range of them too. Autolign build a lot for offroad racers and I also believe they have one of the best records for baja wins using their setups. For me it was the convenience of being able to get different springs etc here to get the setup right where as I would have to order the 14" ones from the states. They are a very good shock its just a shame as I am a guinea pig in a way and therefore it is taking a lot to get mine working just right. Mine have been made up from shocks and not a straight purpose built coil over.

Shit I had to look twice before realising the tray was the shortened one. Fark that's cool, like it was factory.
Good to hear you still find fault in your work. Its the only way to make things better. A craftsman asks "If its good now, how can it be better...?"

Well my work load has taken an exciting turn....................
Im building a bloody staircase

Just trying to figure out how to start it then I'll take it for a thrash
The 4wd thing has gone abit quiet at the moment and theres no money to be made working on the 60 so....... make hay while the sun shines I spose. Least its a challanging job

Back to contract welding? or down to the mdf plant?
Sorry, not ready to have my deck done yet.
Cheers Nig
Nah neither Nig. This is for a house which I've done the structural steel in.
Not as much fun as building you a new deck but it pays the bills and is still a great challange.
The staircase is only one story but it has three corners with a landing on each and is just over 11mtrs long in total

Ive also got a balustrade to do on the landing at the top. All are rather decrative (spelling

)
