Yea, its gonna suck the gas anyway, i knew that before i bought it. Not that much difference in price anyway between 91 and 98, only like $3-4 per tank

Na mate put simply I want something that is a bit more rugged that I don't really care about. The ZJ is in relatively good condition inside and out so not really wanting to put it into a tree etc. I have the interior out of it atm cleaning everything, what a mission.
But I bought this XJ today, picked up for 1500bux, wof and reg, tight LSD and good power, can't complain with the bang for buck the old XJs offer.

Image

Plans are 5" lift, snorkel, 33s, Aussie locker in the front, gutting the interior. I'll probably end up blowing front UJs but oh well lol.

I bought this stock XJ about 5yrs ago, but was driven by the wife. Got it back off her about 12 months ago, and the mods started.

- 6.5 inch Rough Country 'Long Arm' Kit.
- Self fabricated Panhard Bar bracket
- Self fabbed Steering Box Brace
- Self Fabbed Panhard Bracket Brace
- Custom Adjustable Panhard Bar thanks to JK Racing (Pukekohe).
- Custom Slip Yoke Eliminator thanks to JK Racing.
- Custom rear drive shaft from Beatty's Drive Shaft Center.
- 'Over the Knuckle' steering mods
- D30 front, D35 Rear (but wanting a D44 if cheap enough)
- Self fabbed bull bar, rear bar (with swing out tire carrier)
- Pic shows old GEW Winch - now has new Runva 9500 thanks to Mike at Winch.co.nz
- Larger Trans Radiator, Power Steering Radiator
- 'On Board Air' from air conditioning pump, with aux air tank mounted in the rear.
- Lifted Tow bar with removable tongue.
- Both front and rear guards have been cut, with flexible plastic flares added (for WOF)
- Vented Hood
- Too many little mods to mention
- 33inch GT Radials on 8inch Steel rims

Pictures don't show fabbed 'Roof Basket' (with mounted 4x Spot lights)
and 2x Light Force spot lights on the top of the Bull Bar.

I'll up-load more pics soon.

Awesome XJ you have there, how does it handle and ride on road with the 6" long arm lift? Did you get rear leaves out of the states aswell or get them raised/reset/blocked over here?

Above I laid out my plans to get my XJ sorted, which are now down the shitta, I ended up impulse buying a Chev Silverado on 37s. So not a jeep but my flatmate has a pretty capable XJ, we should all head out to Woodhill one weekend, no jappas lol.

The vents didn't reduce the temp (much) when driving hard, but it cools down to normal temp alot quicker than prior to putting the vents in, as they let the heat escape quicker.

I have also put a manual override switch to the electric fan, so I run with this on most of the time in the bush. With the fan on, and the vents, the temp doesn't appear to rise above 105-110.

This Rough Country Kit came complete with EVERYTHING !!! Rear springs (no blocks used on these), shocks, brake lines, the worx.... The only part(s) that I could not use was the Panhard Bar, and the Panhard bar Bracket, as they are only compatible with left hand drive models.

The RC Kit is good, but I have a lot of trouble with the main Flex Joints on the lower arms wearing prematurely. The kit is a year old, and I am on my third set of joints already. Rough Country have been pretty good with their 'Life Time Warranty' and have supplied the joints free of charge (and no charge for shipping) but I am still annoyed with having to swap them out all the time.

The XJ rides nice on the road. It's certainly not a harsh ride, but I think that comes down to the weight of the front and rear bars. I also drive it with the Sway Bar disconnected - These were supplied with the kit as well. No drive line vibes either.

Been to the Jeep Park at Woodhill many times now, and always keen to go again !!
