I haven't had it done yet so if it is rubbish I'd be keen to know and will not bother.

I should also add a few real life usage facts.
I have been using 10mm Dynamica for 3 years. I think I'm onto my 6th or 7th rope. Cookes have tested the old ropes when I consider them beyond use and the results were fairly suprising.
Take into account it is rated at 10.8ton new, you lose about 20-25% with the splice.
The rope I used for 2005 Rotorua WC AND the 2005 Kiwi was then tested. It looked like a piece of white wool it was so scuffed on the outside and was showing signs of wear on the inside as well.
I used the end of the rope with the splice used for the hook and I spliced a new loop on the other end.
On Cookes Whangarei test rig it broke at 5.5 and 5.3 tons (I made a second sample from about 5m up the rope).
Both times it broke part way up the splice. Not the loop and not in the general rope area.
So after all that use/abuse it still had about 64% of it's strength and was still stronger than 8mm wire!
FYI 10mm rope takes the same space as 8mm on a drum.
