If you start tracking it when it is stolen (either the alarm trips or they disconnect battery to dissarm the alarm) then you will know where is is before it goes into the building to get stripped. You will also know where is is if they are taking it for a joy ride and you can imobilise it. If put in a container they will most likely take it out of the container some place in nz where you can track it. Obviously there is a way around everthing but if they don't know you have the system it us very unlikely that it wont work.

Mostly it depends on how long it takes to work out your rig has been stolen. Sometimes that would be immediately, sometimes it could be several days.

depending on how you set up the system. most of the time you can get it to text you if your car is moved or tampered with so you will know strait away. I know there are flaws but they really are a good system

I am afraid if someone wants something bad enough it will dissapear no matter what you have in place look at the cash flow machines Chained with mooring chain used for ships and they weigh a lot but they still go missing. All you can do is make it as difficult as possible for them.
Someone broke a window at home when I was at work, house was alarmed, monitored and there are firearms registered at the property but I still lost stuff before the security company got there (2 laptops, Alcohol and spare house keys) the alarm monitoring company changed the locks.
A friend selling a motor cross bike had people come over and look at the bike for sale and he felt there was something about this one guy so grabbed his car number plate, that night all three bikes in the garage were stolen, the information he passed onto police was not enough so he found out where the car was registered and got photo's of the bikes, the car and property. Two weeks later when the police had a warrant the bikes he owned were not there but two other stolen bikes were there along with parts of about 15 (stolen to order from all over the country and sent to Australia as parts or whole bikes).
Crime is a fast and easy way for some to get what they want, and they do not feel the risks involved with being caught out weigh what they can get. Some learn, but with so little crime being solved quickly (usualy they have 15 or 40 charges over 3 - 4 years when caught depending on identification of items).
