Went up thompsons.... had a ball watching (in no particular order) a datsun on 30 inch ATs, a dead 88 pajero, a brand spanking new hilux on 31 inch mts, a old school safari on fuk all, a series 1 landy on sats, all fuk themselves silly at the bog halfway up the hill. This was after teling two other trucks, (one an old school patrol, leaf sprung styles, and his son with a hilux on road tyres) at the first bit of water just inside the gates to turn around and go home... they were already stuck...... AND SNATCHING WITH A CHAIN!!!!!!

Just proved the point about ill experienced drivers in ill equipped trucks screwing up both tracks, and the name of the 4WD community.

Taking liberties in saying i had a ball watching them. It was bloody annoying. Dont get me wrong, some good humoured young fellas up there having a crack, but man.......... speechless........

What you are looking at is the front top radius mount to the diff. Its ripped right off. In the trucks defence, it looks like it has been broken for a while, and then it finally decided to let go.

When it broke, the whole diff rotated, and i lost the steering and the front UJ bound up. I had to wrap the winch cable around the diff and pull it all down onto the bump stops to get it mobile-ish, then drove out in 2wd with limited steering so the wheel brakes

Steep slippery clay down hills with bugger all steering in 2wd are fawken scary!!!!!!

I'll beef it up a bit and it should last while i make up my mind as to whats going to end up underneath it in the future :D

Finished putting the "new" 5 speed into the Niva. The SATs I got from Weemsie rub a bit when she's crossed up, so may have to remove a bit of metal on the front guards.

2 New springs into the back of the G-Wagen made by Snell springs in Onehunga. Bloody good fast service, ordered on Monday, ready on Wednesday. It'll be interesting to see how they perform compared to Archers.

New wheels arrive Monday from Elite wheels in Christchurch. 15x7.5. Hopefully I got all the specs right so they don't stick out too far and make warranting it difficult.

Fitted altimeter/clinometer to my bj73. Took it for a test drive with new 4 core radiator and manual electric fan setup, looks to work well. I had over heating issues when running a holden alloy radiator (runs holden v6).

Ordered tuned holden memcal/chip for a bit more performance and economy (more ignition timing and a lean cruise mod).

Also gave it a birthday by cleaning the interior and FRP roof on the inside, used industrial strength degreaser  ...twas pretty dirty 8)

Off to Australia soon so won't have time to fit the memcal and/or test it.

Bought my brother a 60" high lift for his bday... fark me its huge!
