Heheheh, aha.
Now how does that tie in with the Chev power plant in your shed, you got some new crazy sheme??
I might have to bring the rugger box and rear drive shaft round and do some comparisons.
See if i am going to need to lift the body to fit the box, and if i am still going to have a rear drive shaft if i use a lux box.
Your a legend man!!!!!!

i think that using the surf chassis i have to build a ute out of will be way to much dramas so im just going to use it as parts, the 6pac and trannie is still going into a ute tho......when i find one suitable.
so yea, its there to be used and i figure its for a good cause
i think the rear drive shaft may be spoken for tho.but everything else is there, except the power steer box, i may keep that as well for cruiser spares

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
I'll have a hunt around for a freight company and a pallet to strap that motor and bell to for ya then.
I'll throw an electric fan on it too... only thing its missing from memory... the original engine mounted one bore the brunt of a logging trucks anger (the owner of the hilux this motor was in was running late for work and took a short cut the wrong way round a forestry road
) along with most of the rest of the front of the truck

Sweet, thanks Steve, keep me posted!!!!
Awesome Ben, I'll have to drop round one night after work and have a look and start formulating a plan of how its gonna fit. That and i have a few other related ideas to bounce of ya
Think i had better get a decent before photo..................................
I have about four sets of SAT's at my disposal, so i'll have to give Simon a call about some 16" 5 stud rims. Can't sneeze at $25 per rim!!!!!
Awesome how this is coming together, cheers everyone!!!!!

To be honest I haven't looked into it yet, but having a big cleanout this weekend so I can actually get to it
So I'll throw it on a pallet I have there and give Mainfreight and Toll Tranzlink a call for pricing.
OH, use the rugger front d-shaft - The IFS surf one won't have enough travel (check them both, maybe the rugger one won't either)... Beam surf/hilux front axles have a higher clearance d-cardan in them.

just had a thought, we really need to find out what ratio that diff i have is aye
then you can match the front to it,or not if its a high geared one.... will try to get all the tag info off the dude who has the body

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
Hey DB, not sure if you were looking for a hilux diff or not, but this is on TM at the moment....

I don't think so... its a '46, last of the short gusset ones I think... but all the bits will transfer into the axle tube you have if that one has the full length gusset (pre '85 the gusset on the underside of the long shaft stopped at the u-bolts... post 85 went almost to the ball).
Wopass, don't worry abotu ratios - if your one was an IFS truck with a 2.4TD its prob a 4.3 - this thing will probably have 4.5's in it which will give better gearing...

The axle fairy came in the night and changed it for you

Seriously tho, I am pretty sure the changeover happened with the model change from *N46 to *N65... might have been swapped out by someone in the past? Might be a factory oddity?
Steve
PS: This post is a shining example of why I should never get up too early in the morning
