Hi UBZ

Rocky Road 267$ USD for the IFS locker #1611. (381$ NZD so under GST amount for customs) $70 Freight to Auckland. So approx $480 NZD to my door

I think you will find that the GST is calculated on the item cost plus the freight cost as the freight is a service. Plus you will need to add credit card transaction fee which for ANZ is 2.5% which with the current exchange rate gives a total more like $550.
Not sure but you may have to also pay an import fee, may pay to check with customs. fee was $28 for me.

Cheers
Tim

Duty & GST are calculated on the item cost, just make sure you know how much the freight was. The last lot of toys I got from the UK, didn't have the freight on the pro-forma.

one thing to mention with these, you should really run manual hubs, I run a auto locker with the ifs factory auto hubs and it was ok but pretty harsh on the hubs, funny things happened from time to time. Put some manual ones on so you know they work.

I still use the ADD system in mine. This allows for loosing the "heavy" steering when you put the hubs in the front. One of "many" benefits with still running the ifs. When the ADD disconnects the drive shaft you get your nice light steering back. I run one free wheeling hub on the right side (non ADD disconnect side) and a drive flange on the left side (ADD side). that way if i bust a free wheeling hub i have the other half spare. The actual reason is im just to lazy to walk around the other side to put it in so leave a flange there

Have yet to have any real issues with the factory electric hubs on my Prado. Push button ease, they are stronger than aftermarket ones and they don't come loose. I just clean the brushes once every year & 1/2. Must get round tuit again!
I also keep an eye on the wires and have pushed the wire mounting brackets further away from my wheels so that lumps of Ice / mud don't damage these, especially when wearing heavy duty chains.

As Mike says they get rid of the un-locker working when not 4 wheeling. so make the steering back to normal.

sorry guys i was refering to the 88 style ln61 surf system rather than the electric hubs, it went ok off road on also on road in 2wd but i tried to a frame it once and the auto hubs were kicking in and out and the locker was locking up, made for some interesting times. Fortunatley i was being towed by a big 80 series who never noticed that often my wheels were pointing in a different direction and leaving big black marks on the road..
At least with manual hubs you can bypass everything and have them freewheeling.

I converted mine to manual hubs and non-ADD front diff housing after a stick ripped all the vacuum hoses and wires off my first diff.
You can remove the vac hoses etc and lock the ADD diffs in 4wd as well.

I carry the original flange plates as spares in Case i do a hub.

The plan is to lose the 4wd comp and setup the transfer the same as bulletproof with a air actuated ram for 4wd activation.
Ive seen 2 4wd comps cook themselves after going for a swim.
