I love these threads

What the thread should be called is "What car do you own, and how rigorously will you defend your buying decision in a public forum" :P

Buy a Hilux or a MU or a Bighorn or a Landcruiser or a Surf or a Subaru ute (owned 'em all :D )

But yeah, sounds like you're leaning towards a 'zuk... just don't break CVs or you'll be mortgaging the house...

Well im looking to sell my 4wd soon, troyota landcruiser, 4 l petrol, with lpg as well, so you get the big engine with a bit more cheaper fuel to feed it.

its got an auto locker in the back, might throw in the 33X12.5 muddies, also got a set of SAT's that could go with it for the right price.

CB radio, Bull bars, 225000 kms, regular maintained.

just had rear diff rebuilt actually, long story........had bearing replaced a year ago, after a year something in there shoke loose and the diff pretty much ate itself to pieces so got a rebuilt rear diff almost.

LPG tank just been tested so got another ten years b4 retest on tank pressure.

sheep wool seat cover;)internal roll bar. its a beauty cruiser.

see my album for photos.

so why dont you buy that?id be looking for around 5ish ono, negotiable.

What is SAS?

(ps..anyone else get sick of typing the code every time they log in?)

SAS=Solid Axle Swap

You should be able to stay logged in permanantly so you don't have to go through the codes etc, unless you are at a different computer.

It's staying, you may get sick of it but it stops web robots joing the site and trawling for your email address to add to their spam lists

click remember me when your browser asks you. that way you only log in once a month or so

SAS is part of what I have done to mine :) Unless you have a few spare thousand $$$ or you have a very forgiving wife (I have the later, not the former ) then you don't want to think about it...

50mm body lift, longer rear shackles or new 50mm lifted springs, ball joint flip in the front, torsion bar windup, 33" muddies, heavy right foot and away you go :)

2.6 petrol , hmmm cadilac v8 bellhousing

Posted: Tue Apr 11, 2006 9:44 pm
by SupraLux
Probably has the MUA5 box, which has no bellhousing at all... its a one-piece cast unit... major PITA for conversions.

throw it away and drop a 350 Chev in with a 4-stage and dual hilux t/c's :) (oh, and a specially shortened rear driveshaft, probably only going to be about 50mm long after all that )

get a vitara they are mean they go anywhere they are quick on road fuel injected 1600cc light weight cheap parts and chaep on fuel you pick one up from auctions a good 1 for like 1500-3000 thousand power steering power windows everything a bit of lift 31" tyres and even a difflock or two if $$$ persist you have a truck that will clean up every other truck ive just sold my nissan with difflock everything because i was jelous of my mates near stock vitara beating me everywhere i went! i was like  wow i gotta get one of those!

You've obviously never seen a land rover then  But seriously, Vitara's have their high and low points. Like they're IFS, the front axle casing cracks easily (people replace them with cast iron casings (I think its an x-90 witht the cast casing), and once you get big tyres on there they are a bit under powered. Good points are that they've got small xle casingsand are small and light. There was an escudo at our club champs which came first (good conditions for it) but on another club champs it didnt do as well (my dad came 3rd in the landrover which only has a 202 with EFI and 32" mud terrains (they'll be for sale soon if anyones interested)). I was going to sell the land rover and buy a vitara, but that was when I ran sat's with the truck cab on. I find a topless classic 4wd such as a land rover or a 40 series cruiser (with modern additions) much more fun to drive than a modern vehicle. Well thats my 2c anyway

Dude,

I got me a 3.5ltr Petrol V6 Mitsi Pajero! and the thing goes anywhere and up anytrhing. I have never had a torque issue and dropping the pressure down to 20psi on sand never had a stuck issue at all. Goes all over the sand dunes without to much stress on anything, and drives like a car on a road on the beach. My model is the full 7 seater s/wagon one, whichj i thought would have a tough time off road in sand, but it did better than my mates suz!

my 2c worth.

Mind you, it will blow your budget, spent 13K to buy and have spent about 2K on things needed.

get a rocky or feroza and throw a set of 31" pirelli scorpions on it amazing the amount of places it will go. also run tubes in it means that you can also drop the tyer presures even lower. great on sand due to being so lite. i can get further in mine than my mates in a V6 mitzi SWB and a mu all runing 31''s

Ask yourself why so many kiwis are driv'n hilux's & surf's - forget the rest and buy the best. If you can afford it, get a surf/lux with 1zte (manual or auto) and treat yourself to a solid axle swap. Great power to weight ratio.

That's why I'm getting a surf.....
