SUNDAY 26th September
Assemble 10.30am at Sefton.
To keep things orderly turn into Amores Road then right into Rangiora Leithfield Rd and Right again into Pembertons Road.
This should provide us with enough room for up to 1000 trucks.
Please don't block the road.
Listen on UHF & CB channel 11.
We will then go to Amberley via the Back Road to cause as little disruption to others as possible.
We will Drive past the HDC offices and onto the Waipara River.
Turn into the Riverbed on the left and then go DOWNSTREAM. We will assemble out of site of SH1 so we don't have rubber neckers smashing into each other.
There will be a place there where people can sign a pre written submission. A Sausage Sizzle will also opperate to cover costs.
At a time to be arranged a small delegation will present the Submissions to a representative of the HDC or failing that to someone in the Waipara River Working Party.
Please no Hooning as we will try and have the News Media there.
Tell everyone about this. Lets show them that its NOT GOOD ENOUGH to just shut us out. After all the River has been used for more than 50 years by people in 4WD's. The people who want us out have only had title for less than 20 years.
Tell us your coming, Tell us how many mates are coming. Tell Campers, Tell Fishermen. Tell Everybody.
PM me if you need more info
Cheers
Graham

Hi Jerry.
We will send them photos and a story after the event.
By the time the decision was made to have the protest (9/9/2010) it was too late for the publications. Submissions close on the 30th.
I have a photographer and someone who will write a story.
Also 4WD TV are trying to organise a camera.
Cheers

if your going and haven't already done so, it would be good to see your intenet in this thread. Call it peace of mind. I reckon this issue will become a benchmark for future NZ law. I would hate to see us looose this battle through lack of interest, especially from the local lads.

Didnt the wellington peeps go through this some time ago and NZ4WDA got heavily involved (remember fund raising for the legal costs - maybe 7-8 years ago?), maybe they can give some pointers as to what to expect.

NZ4WDA is aware of the Management Plan but apart from being advised that the Southern PRO is putting in a Submission that about it.
The National organisation has been kept informed.

wot time are the chch boys leavin town,
I'm planning on getting out there about 10 so I can assist with some organising as I know it may be somewhat difficult with this number of trucks. I have done 4wd fundraisers before and it takes alot of organisation to get the convoy moving and keeping it together. I'm getting peace of mind now. Had a few txts from members of the NC4WD club, there is as well.

4WD TV have said they want to film the protest. CTV will do the filming for their own news and footage will be used in the 4WD TV shows shown through sky.
Anybody out there with influence with the main TV Networks

take a small tarp just in case. I could always pull you through with tarp over your grill and engine off. We would just have to check the air filter to ensure no water will get in there. I will check river flows today.

Hi Folks.
Need some numbers to contact TV3. CTV were to be there but now cant.
If a couple of Dozen people filled this in they might follow up for sure. At the moment all we have is a maybe depending on what else is happening.

I don't know how many others know the following.
Maybe some others in Chch might want to confirm it.
But apparently the Chch City Council is developing a 4X4 purpose built park for our trucks in the Waimac rec area.
There's talk that it will be only open to Clubs and not to the public?
Maybe it'll be the same as the access to the beach area north of Spencer park to the Waimac mouth? I have a key to that gate access. Costing around $40 a year. Small cost for such an awesome spot.
One or two other people I've spoken to feel ALL NZ rivers will be shut down to our trucks and more 4X4 purpose built areas will be developed by council to counter act the fall out.
I'm going out on a limb posting this.
But I haven't heard anyone else bring up what the Council is planning re 4X4 recreational areas.
So I thought I would...

When ECAN developed the 4x4 area on the north bank up by the Pylons they were going to monitor use with the view to providing an area for Club use only. It hasnt been talked about for ages.
Simon Woods was the ECAN Ranger who came and talked about it at a Combined Meeting.
Once the Waipara thing is sorted we should follow this up. I havent been out to the play area but I know plenty have.

The Braided Rivers Society are already working on what they want. Was at a DOC meeting the other night and it was bought up at that.
You can be quite certain that Braided Rivers will feature in the Canterbury Conservation Management Strategy Draft when it comes out. But thats the probably the next biggie.
At the moment lets put all our efforts into the Waipara.

How true it is, I wouldn't know.
But I was also told that the Rally on Sunday would be pointless.
As it's to late to make any kind of change on the plans that the council and powers that be already have on the area.
The boats already sailed, so to speak...

its surprising though pete how quick the council etc can change their minds and so on. Its more than possible, but its just inconvenient to them thats all.
Hope it goes well for you guys.

Anyone who has read-understood-researched the Draft Plan would never give that advice.
The Plan is flawed in many ways.
Anything that goes through with flawed information can be challenged at anytime in the future as well.
I dont think the boat sailed. Its Sinking
A big plus is that there will be an almost new council. Nearly 1/2 have retired. Thats why its important for anyone in the HDC to call the candidates and ask the questions posted earlier.
Cheers
