Had the third row of seats fitted last week. Went in for Cert on Tuesday and only failed on four things:

1. Needs plates between the rear seat mounts and floor pan
2. Underfloor plates need to be riveted not welded to the floor pan
3. Wheelarches need to be extended
4. Beadlocks need Torque settings stamped on Rim's

Also need to supply a WOF check sheet when I take it back, so its booked into Summit 4WD on Tuesday. All going well I should be able to take it into Wayne (certifier) on Wednesday.

Worked out total cost so far, including truck $16,200!

That will be for

Fully Certified
7 Seater
Front and Rear Factory Diff Locks
3" Lift
35" Tyres & Rims
Fully Reconditioned 4.2L Motor

All that will be left to fix is the stupid age old 80 series electric window problem.

My Fiva has been done with some of that Rhinolining stuff. It's really good, and tough as anything.

Just make sure there's no rust on the floor when it's put on. 'Cos rust thrives under it.

And yeah, I think Repco/Supercheap has it for just under $100... :D

Have added part time kit to my wish list... Oh and working on front bars, Rick has designed one for a Prado that he wants to try on here, not sure if I'm keen though....

Its a kit, comes with metal plates that you screw into the fibre glass flare. Have to drill pilot holes first though.

The torque settings for the beadlock bolts, Were on the rims, then they were powder coated and now you can't see them ....

Been a while since I posted an update on here, as I mentioned heater is fixed, had to take the dash out to replace the cable.

I have a few exhaust leaks so ordered one of these:

Image

Buying the exhaust has put me back a bit as I don't have much cash left now. Need to sell more stuff. Have got a PRS radio and new Stereo ready to go in now though.

Rick and I worked out the centre piece of the new front bar/bumper. That should be back in a few weeks.

I stripped the winch cleaned it up and the outsidey bits are now at the powder coaters.

And just to prove it gets used, here is the after from the waipara trip:

Where did you get the new window rubbers?, mine are OK in summer but are a real pain when wet, would be keen on replacing them if i could find a reasonable priced set

Mine were the same, Windows wouldn't go up in the cold or wet. I bought them from Japan. The price of all 4 was less than the price of 2 here:

68141-60010 Run, Front Door Glass, LH 3,890 Yen
68151-60010 Run, Front Door Glass, RH 3,890 Yen
68142-60010 Run, Rear Door Glass, RH 3,685 Yen
68152-60010 Run, Rear Door Glass LH 3,685 Yen

I can PM you the details of the dealer I used if you like.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi, cool 80 - does Rick have those snorkels in stock atm? (I know he isnt in his shop / borrowed a tool off him a few weeks ago for my own 80) & how much to fit one, I just cant cut panel steel - I can pull any engine / trans etc apart but I just start sweating when I get a grinder in my hands & look at my lovely cruisers panels ha ha

Cheers

You can guess where he gets them from eh... but that place now has them loaded so if he doesn't have one, he can get one pretty quick. He used his nibbler to do mine, btw he had a 10lbs baby girl on Friday so he's out of action this week so would be best to catch up with him mid week next week i'd say.

Yup same trip. If the worst happens I could tow it for ya ;-) not sure I want to though, I'd need a bigger fuel tank :-D

Had a quick chat with Paul Delis tonight re the chasm, he's helped convince me I'll be fine in there with three under 6's ;-)

Winch Solenoids on 4wdbits

Post by wjw »

Fitted my winch yesterday, but it turns out I don't have space for the Warn solenoid pack. Anyone know the physical dimensions of this:

Tigerz11 Integrated Solenoid Pack 12 Volts

http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/ProductDetails ... uctID=3707

and the differences compared to this:

dunno the size but i'd be going for the tigerz11 one. Those winches draw 450 amps at full load and with it pulling the 80 thru mud it'll be doing that a bit.
