yea I knew it was there but the she'l be right attidude let me down. If it was actually my off road truck it would be getting moved.

You could always try what I did with a c phone and was pull the board out and dry it after washing it thourhly with a hair dryer.. worked a treat.. left it for about 15 mins so it got hot but not that hot to melt the soldering..
OR for the plug.. get a toyota..

The GQ is for the misses at this stage. Getting rid of her Honda, need a 4wd for her to throw the dogs in, and she finds the 80 too big

yes have read the threads of your manual switching of the auto. seriously considered doing it (capable of doing it) but for what I use it for as my road/tow vehicle Im happy for it just to take care of it's self, but will put be putting the switch on the torque converter lock up. only thing it does that bugs me is the instantly going into lock up when it hits overdrive. and not being able too hold over drive when going down gears. where it goes from lock up straight to 3rd. so the torque converter lock up switch should sort that for me.
The 4 switches does appeal as getting full throttle in third with out it kicking down to second would help on them hills.
Bit concerned as to how having it full manual shift would go with other people occasionally driving it???
Be nice if you wanted to post up a simplified wiring diagram and instructions for the full manual switching setup as many would be interested that havnt seen the thread.

OK I'll have a look at the TCU's I have at home. I have 2 and I think there is a third I can get. There are a coupld of different ones as the later model in particular have power / eco and and OD off switch. Sound slike yours will be the same as what I've got. If they match I'll send you one to try out and then we can figure out the rest after that.
Manual shift is easy to drive. You end up with 1,2 and 3 from the shifter and 4th being the power switch. teh only hard part is lock up as you'll either need to fit a second switch to the shifter or have a switch on the dash. I didn't do it but fitting a cutout on the brakes would be good as if you try and stop with the lock up on it will stall the truck.
Flyingbrick did a conversion the same as mine and his diagram is probably better. Mine is very rough and has been changed. At one point we controled the orerun clutch but then I disconected it as it ran better. I also have a habit of figuring things as I go whereas I sure FB would have planned it a lot more.
