sounds like someone has a story to be telling

but why chainsaws :?:

surely if its a nissan we should be taking metal cutting saws to strip it

We will be meeting at the Cooks gate (Rallywoods entrance) at 10.30am today for those that are coming to help.

Story goes like this... we went for a drive to the rock garden, down then back up, then we meet the others at the orange hut for lunch. We then decided to have a look at the slippery forest, not the one that you are thinking of, that is called manufactures challenge, the true slippery forest that is just passed the ruts behind the orange hut.
After taking about 3 hours to get to creek, about 50 meters from the end of the track, the forest guys had been there to thin out the pine trees... and they had just dropped the trees anywhere as they do and about 25 - 30 trees are across the track.... so you guessed it, we had to turn around and do the track again!
When we were turning around, Taz01 broke a CV. We made the call to leave it there for the night as we had enough trouble getting through with working trucks let a lone a broken one! We set out at 6ish on the return trip and managed to get through by 7:30 but it was a had hour and a half driving and winching. people were wet and cold but we manged to get through and keep the spirits high....

My thanks go to Lyn, Top_Gear, baby Gear_Cruiser, Hayley, Taz01, aLUX, Beer_Cruiser, Frogy and BlackDeath.

A fantastic day with fantastic people doing what we love to do!

Got home from the recovery about 10 minutes ago, with one of the recovery trucks having a small issue in the morning (no fuel coming out the injector pump) we headed for Taz01's truck... we managed to get cut our way through to his truck after about 2 hours of hard chainsawing and track clearing, then dragging it out of the creek on to flat land (about 1/2 an hour to move about 50 meters) only to find out that he had broken a CV...

While they fixed that we went to sort out the electrical issue... unable to work it out we towed it about three quarters of the way out when it dawned on the owner... shutdown wiring on the injector pump.. bypassed the wiring plug and she fired up.. we are all mobile again! (Thank god cos my truck wasn't liking the 3 tonne it was pulling up hill!)

As for the cost of this recovery you are all thinking about... well it cost him NOTHING!why you ask? cos Kiwi4x4 don't charge for recoveries, we do it because we have mud running through our vanes... and we enjoy doing what we do!

Cheers for the help today guys even though it wasn't my truck being recovered, it shows the comrade we have within the Wellington area and we are always willing to get anyone out of the shyt.
