did you notice some parts of the track leading up to the hut were getting quite rutted out? my mates and i got diffed out quite a number of times yesterday seeing as were all on 31's and 32's , we were going to try a bit of the loop but after getting stuck that 200 series stuck a few times we thought we'd better not risk ruining a quite highly priced truck any mre than what he'd already done

you got some nice trucks there from what the clips show yours trucks will go from there to full bush trucks if you go around there
you will be grinding the body work on both sides and there a good size rocks that catch out the unwery

full bars and good winches are a must and maybe a trailor to get your beasty home afterwards

no seriously you there is serious panel damage in there
get your trucks ready for the fight and let me know im always keen to go in to battle

I almost finished the box for the rear of the Lada, from old wooden floor tiles.

Pics are crap, but it has a big compartment for all the recovery gear etc, and a smaller one on the right that will seal up (with it's own lid), so we can put food etc in it. Nice and simple.

Good thing is, it'll fit straight into the Fiva too

what are you going to do to hold the top down i use rubber bonnet straps

Ahh, probably just some sort of steel latch, I might quickly make my own up, or get my mate to weld some up so they actually look decent ('cos my fab skills are rather primitive )

Picked up, onto the ferry and then drove home my next little project (thread to come) a LN60 beam axle surf motor is factory 2LT with 5 speed , very very original, going to be treated to a paint work tidy up, some nice wheels, 31's and a snorkel.....road runner only

Nice score Tim,If your planning to keep it 2lt then I would seriously consider a bigger exhaust,and anything alse to try and keep that head intact!

Yeah man, figured it'd give me something to when I'm bored/waiting for others to be towed out

Got some more info on my side bars, rung tjm they ARENT compatable, but the bullbar is as long as it doesnt have a winch so Il post up next week hopefully what happens to it, almost need to start a build for this truck its getting that many changes

how old is your terrano??? was just thinking if ,,if she is old enough to get the air bags disabled then problems solved i do know there is an age where once the vehicle is of age they can be legally removed with a lvv cert

After all the rain we have been having, a camping trip seemed on the cards. So it was time for a bit of exploring, a group of us were off to find some old gold mining remains.

Climbing in tussock lands/ grazing country

Still climbing.

Starting the descent

Arrival at an old mustering hut

Off to see what we can find in the sunshine following an old waterrace

Looking through a rock tunnel that was to drain an old holding pond

Looking at old dam walls and the remains of an old hut coming into view

Been used in later years by some hunters most likely, bit of a state now.

Great spot for a camp, pity its an hours walk to get there! Swiming holes etc.



The locals now

Still climbing, up into Natures Garden, more evidence of mining, creek been diverted once upon a time


Refreshing filtered water

More sulicings, its amazing what can be found in the hills above sulicings, dams, holding ponds etc.


Finally made the boundary where we were to check and repair the fence, Water was a bit cold....



Heading back to camp

Sun disappeared and big clouds appeared


One of the roughest night ever. Very windy, amazed the tent survived, parked the vehicle to break some of the wind. Broke one fiberglass pole.
Raining by morning, and the wind has eased somewhat.

Heading out, most had chains on due to the clay track, up into the gloom

Still climbing 1400m now


Heading down the goat track with some big washouts to civilisation. Very slippery in places without chains!



Fantastic trip, the weather made it memorable for all the seasons!
