Worsleys spur sunday arvo
Yep would have needed the clutch Rik, actually would have needed more then that. We made it 3/4 the way up and I made the decision to turn around after a failed winch attempt x2 to get me up and out of a hole. Damage equals: me bent drag link and/or tierod Tim: stuffed alternator, Disco ( sorry forgot name) broken rear axle or diff bent driver's door and smashed indicator guy who came up behind us: 1 rolled surf and guy with possible head injury. Narliest bit of drving I've done in a while, first time I have never made it up. Not a bad afternoon really. Post the pics and vds

The surf was still on all four wheels when I arrived (I was going down, them going up) Icouldn't get past them so tried to winch them up, alternator died so had to stop winching

His injury occured when he was outa the crap and down the hill a bit, his hand brake didn't hold and truck went backwards and his door hit him

My day consisted of winching, towing, getting everything covered in clay, engines reving, mudsling, fun

Got a spare alternator to chuck on and ready for next weekend

It was good fun, I think I spent more time hooking ropes onm walking up and down and slipping over than actually in a truck
absolutely covered in mud/clay...
great fun... you forgot to mention the terrano and rangie that were there before us, who were getting really stuck and breaking lots...

An excellent afternoon up the Spur. Mud and clay for miles. Fist time out with the disco. Lovin it. Busted the front indicator (I knew we should have welded that last piece of the winchbar back on H2O) dented drivers door and broke the rear axle. All this is cheaper than my last trip out with the Mu. Made it all the way back down with only front wheel drive (not bad eh). The guy who got in trouble with the Surf has no ties with ORE. I have seen him out at the Mac a few times and he is just a casual 4wder, but I reckon he owes us ORE guys a few beers. If it wasn't for us he would still be up there lying on his side. Well done guys.

Was talking to a guy from CHC 4wd club, they were planning on doing a working bee on it, but the trail bike club didnt want them to so the council said no and are now staying out of it... looks like its just going to get progressively worse

It was an interesting day thats for sure,I have been up there in wet conditions much like sunday before approx 3 months(took close to 4 hrs to reach the top but we did)ago and its become even more differcult since then.Due to the nature of the track recovery can be challenging at best of times let alone slippery as on sunday.I think that under the conditions we all did pretty darn well recovery wise, with a mixture of people(not all in the same groups) helping out.I'm not sure what we would have done if John wasn’t there with the P.T.O winch on the nissan to pull the surf on its side out,as it was the share pin broke on the first attemp(had some spares)and used a snatch block on the second go to get it totally out. With out the surf moved we werent going down thats for sure.
Anyway I'd like to thank everyone who helped out.
Shane
Side note:Having two shorty nissan's up there on 35's(Glens tyres were probley past there best also)made lite work of tracks I was getting stuck on with the 33's and the lockers not much use when the wheels aren’t touching the ground
The only pics I have

It's a surf turning around and coming down the hill again to free one of these mighty Nissans from it's peril :pukel:
and what's more wrecked my damn alternator winching another Nissan

anyways great day had, enjoyed the company
