Well guys. I've had some more time today to go a bit further with this problem.
I have soaked the Auto Hubs and air dusted but no change.
I can see once all the grease was washed out that there is cir-clip expanding into the hub wall, I am not sure how to take this off as it appears to have the pressure of the internal spring resting up against it. Can this be taken off safely and then replaced? I'm still curious is anything is repairable inside.
On the other hand I have had look around Wreckers and have been quoted from $80 to 130 for one Auto hub second hand, which to me seems a lot. Maybe It isn't. I have seen some manual hubs on a 91 Irmisher which look simillar if I really find I have a problem with 2nd hand price and no fixing of original.
Can someone tell me what other models will have the same auto hubs as my mistral.
Next stop will be the PIC A PART crowd.

That sounds a lot... D21 navara or terrano should be the same. There are two spline counts (27,28) but I'm not sure which models got which tho...
I sold a terrano auto hub not long ago for $5, was rough but it worked. Mind you, not being a wrecker I didn't have to provide a warranty etc...
Maybe try http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 039649.htm? If one don't work, then use the other

I may still have my old auto hubs here somewhere if you want them, but you will have to pay postage from Christchurch if they are what you want.
Give me the spline count off yours and I will check them out for you.

This would be most appreciated. Yep not a prob to pay for postage. Do you have fastways down there, they often cheaper than NZ Post. and always cheaper than NZ Couriers.
I will get some more time over the weekend and PM you then.
Cheers
