I think you will find if you look at my first post i answered his question, he asked which diesel engine, i said that a lot of guys put the volkswagen 1.8 td in, and that i think there is even a calmini kit for it. so dont tell me i didnt answer his question and just went on a rant.

Oo the old student dig aye, big man, your from the school of hard knocks i presume? must be for all the mad skills you have

Ughhh it was getting productive until you turned back up.

Hey dirtydog, good call on the Deutz, were they air cooled though? I saw one in a 40 ft sailboat once and they are nice and compact, wonder if you could convert to liquid cooling.

Also the MITSUBISHI JEEP used several 4-cyl Mitsi diesels over the 45 years they were in production. Similar size engine bay as the Suzuki, may be worth looking into?

Im pretty sure they come in either, i know the big air cooled v8s are cool though.

But if it is air cooled there wouldnt be much difference, means more room for engine, which would be a good thing.

and it would be easy to direct cold air to it..

Named as such as they were built, under licence, by... thats right... JEEP. Hence the ability to use the name. (as with Mahindra when they did the 3a)

Nice try but factually flawed attempt.

A SUZUKI IS NOT A JEEP.... A JEEP IS A JEEP.... A JEEP IS NOT A TOYOTA.... A SUZUKI IS A SUZUKI.... A NISSAN IS NOT A SUZUKI..... A NISSAN IS A NISSAN..... A SANGYONG IS A, WELL..... NOT A MITSUBISHI....

Yeah I totally understood the relationship between Willys and Mitsi, just thought I'd throw in a JEEP THAT IS ALSO A MITSUBISHI !

He was merely stating that the 4cyl diesel would be suitable for this build,

not another bloody argument....

Admittedly, I kind of baited by saying MITSUBISHI JEEP, apologies for that

This is what I used.
I wouldn't do the conversion the reasons Phil mentioned in his first post though.
I built mine to use on the west coast of northland to get to my dive spot/go fishing and have fun.
Economical? ... yes in high range when cruising. Low range? ... not so much but 3rd/4th gear it has sooo much torque it's not funny (actually it's heaps of fun  )

Ok cool if you are talking about the hard riding yea i can understand that its one of my friends that is wanting to do it think he is also looking at coils at the same time. He will do all the work himself so save the dollars there. Did you use toyot manual box if so attached or the divorced transfer?? may go down the road of 2ct auto from van to suzuki divorsed transfer as an option, keen on other ideas tho

Not so much hard riding as soft riding. But like I said, it was built for a particular purpose which it serves well.
Mine is engine/bellhousing/clutch from a Liteace van, W56 and transfer, double carden shaft in the rear cause it's steep, custom front shaft, hilux diffs, liteace radiator, surf brake booster/master and a lot of custom made bits
Also converted it coils all round at the same time.
The Suzuki bits are a '97 hardtop cut down to a soft top ute (it was rolled) on an '87 chassis so not really a Suzuki at all.

if a vehicle does 40MPG to go 60 miles it would use 1.5 G should be able to convert that to litres
