I've owned a 1994 pajero a 1993 surf a hilux and a rodeo, my FIL owns a D21 and a R50 and i have a 98 mistral, the last three piss all over the others.
the r50 has the most torque and the 27 eti with minor mods walks all over the rest.
as for axle articulation you can get the rear coils out if you get your gansta lean on enough.
The surf was just a whale the rodeo and hilux had too much over hang and too longer wheel base,
The pajero was a lemon. period
the mistral also has a departure angle issue but that is about to be solved with a removable tow bar and steel rear bumper.

and more to that the nissan D21/r50/r20 chassis has the most factory ground clearance in the front. a 1.5 inch lift on 31's gives it better clearance then my SAS hilux on 33's.

That chime that sounds like a Japanese wind up toy when you leave the lights on and remove the key - that is really bad - I replaced it with a generic 'beep beep' one.
Alignment - its pretty much impossible to get a stock one aligned once you start playing with the ride height
Autohubs - Granted not electric but they jump in and out more than a P Freak in front of traffic

BAD - unlike Toyota IFS, the torsion bar pivot is on the lower control arm, making diff drops pretty impossible.
GOOD - unlike Toyota IFS, the CVs are plenty strong and not designed to be the drivelines weak link.
Try finding a Mistral manual gearbox here in Kiwiland mate!
So, I should find a couple of R20/terranoII manual gearboxes to put in the container when I return..?

yes as they dont bring in cars or 4 wheel drive under 2004 so keep them tidy only when you want to sell..... and they will hold a price what ever make

What? No imports older than 2004? Is this correct? I have one I'm bringing back in about a year. Can anyone else verify this? (a '90 2dr).
Factsheet 44a at LTSA still looks valid phew.
Bad point = everyone wants a 2dr in good condition, then wrecks them.
