Next trip will require muddies ,mainly for ground clearence accross a narrow but swift river. Need Ben there to send through first

I been hunting and camping there for a many long year, did you see the big trout that live under the dam spillway? the Bridge under the Waikato falls, I mean. from where your first foto was tooked.
me and Paul was hunting those roads before the tunnles was put in, had heaps of fun too. Did you manage to get to the Pillars from the SH1 side? I never did find THAT track.

Yep, right up to about 50m from the Pillars on a track straight of the side off SH1, pretty over grown and tight, but its still a good drivable track. We back tracked from the Pillars and turned off an an even narrower (thank god for GPS) track. That bought us out on another track that led back to Kaimanawa Road.

you BUGGER!!! I have never found them, I am gonna have to go back and look harder. Was it good fun? I am trying to get access into various parts of the Desert, the Army is being non-helpful. did you need help? we will have to go again, theres plenty of good campsites in that area. do you hunt> perhaps a hunting trip may be in order one day, I KNOW Wopass will be into that one.

going up the River can be a mission, it has changed a helluva lot over the last few years, wonder if we can spring a Unimog? be just the gear for going right up to the gorge..... A team of guys took a Landrover S2a up to the tussuk once, but there was a lot of guys, winches and trucks everywhere, some of them were airlifted out with broken bits dangling under the Hueys.... Fark..... that was a few haircuts back now.

You're on, any time suits me, remember, I am a retired old fart, but it would be a hunting trip of limited numbers. as you say, NI Saf, we talk it thru.
