Indeed but making it so OSH compliant and to make it safe for everyone even treating them all like sheep is just too hard.. it would more then double the required people to run an event .. if it was easier then everyone would be doing it..
isn't the reason they get the 4wd mags involved is so coverage can go out to everyone and provide a national profile for the sponsors.

Hey mate. unfortunately we can't have spectators for several reasons:
-The logistics of having wandering spectators on a near 800 acre property with limited mobile coverage. -The safety concerns with added people. We are already having to plan for 60 driver/co-drivers plus support crew, marshals, organisers. -Finally and most importantly the land owners have asked us not to have spectators. As im sure you can appreciate finding property owners who will allow us to do what we do on their land are hard to come by and thus they have the final say on everything and this has to be respected.
Cheers Andrew

Exactly Ralfie. We've got both 4x4 Action Magazine and NZ4wd Magazine on board so we should hopefully have lots of pictures and write ups for those who aren't there in person.

I agree man, been saying the exact thing myself for years.
No buisness is interested in sponsoring a vehicle, team or event, when their advertising goes unseen except for a pic in a small niche magazine.
As you were, don't clutter these guys thread with this stuff, it was discussed to death a few years ago

Not nessesarily only the person 'in charge' of the vehicle needs to be a member so this could be the driver or co-driver.

The best way to find out if they need to be affiliated would be to email the president or secretary of the NZFWDA and ask for their opinion But my opinion is both would need to be members of the NZFWDA as this would cover them for insurance just like the trials guys when they compete Cheers Probie

The comment from andy3542 was a quote form an email I sent him and is correct. The rules for National trials are a little different. Tony Burgess President NZFWDA

Hi Guys,
We have now finished the competition rear T shirt design, so I thought I should share it.
Now unfortunately on a more serious note, there is an issue I need to address.
We have had an anonymous tip that there are a few people that have concerns about the event and one of our Norwest members (Nick Lawson) being tied up with the event, I would just like to put this to bed. Yes he is a club member with Norwest but he is NOT involved with the organization of this event in any way.
Cheers
Caleb

Facebook event for all those obsessed with Facebook
After receiving an email this week with some concerns about security and parking I thought I should update you all too...
We have a decent site for camping set out in one of the paddocks which we are happy for tow vehicles to be parked in, all of the gates will be locked for the event and we are more than happy to let competitors in or out during the event.
If the tow vehicle isn't a 4wd or you do not require it next to your tent, we can park alongside the gravel road inside the farm.
The plan is:
Drive in Unload comp truck Park tow wagon & trailer or just unload trailer on the internal gravel road (camping will be a no trailer area). Get truck scrutineered then your free to relax
There will be 1-2 tractors on hand for any towing required.
We will also have people floating around during the event that can cast an eye on things from time to time.
Due to the location there may only be 3-4 vehicles that go past in a weekend and I would class it as a secure location.
If you have any more concerns please feel free to ask away...
Cheers

Had a good weekend with lots of marking completed. A group of us built one small bridge and upgraded another. I had the chance to do a quick half circuit of the 760+acres with the Gopro on the bonnet to give everyone some idea of the versatile terrains we have at our disposal. The land owners have been great in that we have had complete "artistic freedom" to fell trees, drive through drains and tear up some small patches of pasture. The following video is of the access tracks only with a few landmarks labelled.
As you can see these tracks have to be "nursed" a little to make them last through the competition. Afterwards all access tracks will be levelled for the summer season.
P.S, The rattle is the Gopro casing........not my truck
Cheers,
