The hilux on its side ,their recovery and willingness not to quit , was brilliant pity they were 51seconds over time, but they got to the finish box and out of the stage

Ok here is our effort at Stage 11.. Its full in car footage of the whole course, unedited. We were having comms issues and also compressor problems as you will hear. Note this is my first winch challenge as a navi... And Tony's as a driver. The truck has been 3 years in the building and its first individual challenge event. enjoy.

Another awesome event, good challenging stages with a lot of thought put into them. Thanks to everyone who helped run the event. Was good to meet some you South Island competitors. We had a good event, broke pinion in the front diff on stage 13 trying to drive out of the creek, but managed to get out within DNF time, then had to finish the last four stages with our open spare diff in the front.
Here is an incab video of us on stage 10
Cheers Thor

Did they have rule change with the double purchase ? as the guys hooked onto truck before setting the block on the anchor.. I thought you should have been able to set the block then hook onto truck before touching the rope..

Rules say block is the last thing to be connected, first thing to be disconnected. Think it has been this way for ages.

The rules actually say: "The winching cable or winch extension strap is deemed under tension any time it is connected to the winching anchor point. The anchor point must be the last connection made." So, connecting the hook to the vehicle when intending to use a block does not make the cable live as the block is the last connection made and to the anchor point. The reasoning is that if the hook to vehicle connection were the last connection made and if the vehicle were to move during that connection process, the person connecting the hook could be dragged to the block. Hope that answers it for you. Dave

All SI competitors now home safe and sound was a long and exhausting weekend for me but on all accounts well worth it Manukau 4wd club you guys put on a bloody great event and i would recommend it to all. im sure there will be many more pics of our rollover as that was about the only time we were going slow enough to get any
But big ups guys great event and it tops the cake bringing the trophy back home. also a big thanks to Bob(Quadracer)and luke, Sav and scotty and mike and sherryl for the support over the weekend.

That's not cool. Maybe time for a Nissan or Toyota rear axle?
Seems Manukau was hard on the Rovers.

Big thanks to all the guys from Manukau club who put this together, particularly Hamish and Dave. I competed for the first time, having never even been a spectator to any of these. Brilliant time overall, well run, friendly people, awesome fun. Im definitely having another go especially after getting a placing in Manukau class. Slightly hooked....! Learnt heaps being a complete newbie to all this and my truck was unscathed. (well it is a safari......) Again , huge thanks to the Manukau club for a great event.

Nah .time to change some $ to £ and bring some tuffer stuff in from the uk .in the rovers defence i was a little hard on it .... But the main problem was on trademe the truck had howat axels and finespline diffs but the rear is still 10 spline .no drama.was stoked with the way the truck performed .stuff we struggeled to do in second gear on 32" simex we were doing in 3rd and fourth with 35" simex.just loving that extra grunt .
