Dont know to be honest, but the back was pretty close so im guessing its not far off.
shock and springs are the initing factor at the moment, not designed for such a light load
ill get it up on the ramp at work, or on a forklift to find out, then ill unbolt shocks to see what length i need.
Shut the knockers up, flex it up with the shocks in the front unbolted Or it could prove them right and we'll flame ya
If that is the full whack available it would be a pretty shitty thing to flame him. I mean he has taken a $2500 wagon, spent over $6000 ish on it, and now it's (at best) the same as he started with except it won't handle as nice on the road which is where it will have to stay because the flex issue will inhibit any usefulness it may have had off road. Get those shocks off young fella and flex it up properly and hope like hell it works out. (ps, quick heads up, if it doesn't work, best you don't let us know )
Even if it's not the best its still a good first effort for someone. I mean hell just to do that and get it on the road is great if you are just starting out. Plenty of other people on here couldn't even get that far.
Still stronger than factory and plenty of room to improve, probably just as good as a standard safari which are generally considered better off road than terranos (no comments needed some will disagree im sure!). Good sh*t!

Went to the Waitaki Mud Plug. Mates got first in the standard class in a 3L V6 paj with retread SATs. Think the whole setup cost less than $100.
Made me miss my S2a thrasher
Success on one of more difficult hazards
And, got the V8 LR out for a 15minute test drive.

Considering i got it for nothing, 6k aint bad for something i can put a v8 in and not have to worry about anything breaking lol.
As for the flex, its designed to flex alot more than that, definitly not sitting on bumpstops there, and the bumpstops can squish down a fair bit, as i have said the springs arnt flexing very well, designed to have another 2 cyl's worth of engine, not to mention the exrta body/chassis weight ontop.
I think the other limiting factor will be the arms, but im sure safaris share the same problem, so not too fussed.
some good things are that i can run 35's if i want to, and not worry about replacing tierods, or cvs etc which is what i wanted, dont want it to be a rock crawler. drives bloody well in my opinion as is, got plenty of go compared to the bighorn.
But ill disconnect the rear swaybar, shocks and put her on the forklift to see how much flex is available.
and to be honest, if no one likes it in the end, i dont really care, cause its my truck and its exactly what i wanted, i truck i cant destroy that in my opinion looks good.

Massive weekend out at Karakariki, Waikato 4wd club hosted 12 or so trucks from the Shore club for the weekend, couldnt have asked for a better day on saturday, warm ,sunshining, tons of mud. All the groups had a blast from what i heard/saw, there were all the usual breakages, roll overs, and carnage..... maybe even a fire???? Sunday was slightly wetter after 12hrs of rain, but the tracks were even better with more winching, another roll over and just awesome tracks to play on. Cheers to the Shore club for coming down

Faaark, what a bunch of stink c*#ts.
Radius arms don't really flex (looks like it has radius arms?), and flex isn't that big of a priority for a lot of people. Majority of winch comps have been won by guys who would have similar flex to this set up (ie any radius arm vehicle) Yes, alot of leaf setuos probably flex better. But the coils should give a better ride and possibly a better approach angle? If he had put leaves on a GQ axle would ya all be giving him shit for not going coils?
Or maybe I'm just taking you all too seriously?

Yep, wasn't a complete fluke as they got through cleanly twice. Fella is an alright driver, a much lighter foot than me

Cheers mate, yep, she's a stock safari under there. Keep in mind people there was no such thing as the 2wd mod, drop boxes etc for terrano's when i decided to go for this setup, only other option was calmini stuff, which even then was gonna cost a Fark load because it all had to be crack tested.
but hey, im happy, if its good enough for 2 other people to do the same thing, with others talking about doing it aswell im sure that says something about some other trucks out there.

Hi Dirtydog, don't take the comments too seriously they can be a bit "tongue in cheek" The truck you have had built will be a good all round truck, and a solid axle is without a doubt a great addition for component strength, in particular the steering. A few years back I SAS'd a hilux surf and it transformed the vehicle, but I still managed to break it good and proper on one occasion

Well its not the nicest thing when your pride and joy is constantly ripped into by people that youve never met before, but hey, everyone thats seen it in person reckons its a good setup, and so far the only bad feedback ive got in the thread specifically for feedback, is the fact i used a stock setup, which is understandable because i didnt know much about 4/5 link setups, im happy with what ive got, its not going to cost me 100 bucks every time i go 4x4ing.

You have to remember its the internet easy to wind people up, no emotion can't tell if they are serious or joking and you have posted a fair bit about it and seem to take the bait easily.
It's not bad that you used the stock front end it would just have been a good time to improve it while it was in bits, I own a Safari so know how stiff they are in the front.

as for the stiff front, im glad its not because of how it is setup.
Tony uses safari gear in his competition trucks, and they do well in competitions and they flex well. id rather trust someone that i know does it, and learnt the hard way a couple of times, compared to what someone says on the internet.
