Got my intake manifold and intercooler back from being "customised" by my mate Rob Saturday so got to it. Bolted up manifold, rebent #1 injector pipe to suit and relocated powersteering reservoir using what I think is a Hiace unit. Mounted and plumbed the intercooler, oh and had to slightly move the coolant and washer bottles over...

Headed into Stoney Creek with the Featherston 4X4 club, nothing too taxing but was good to explore tracks that we hadn't been into for ages, some we will need to explore in the dry. AJ will need to sort his Auto hubs on the bighorn......making nasty sounds...

Well lift all fitted and looks all good. Downside the shocks aren't long enough

the ones I got were good for a lift but obviously not long enough for mine. The rear went to a 4inch lift and the front went to a 3inch lift so I might add a spacer in the front and get some longer shocks.
On another note. Got me a Suzuki escudo for a good price and fixed the rust in the back and now for a wof to move on as I need the $$$ for the safari lol.

gave my hilux the 50 dollar paint job off youtube, (cost me 70)
and i have to say it looks pretty good. the old red was badly faded and more like terracotta but now its shiny firetruck red again. i used a roller to most peoples suprise its a good finish. three coats so far and i may do one clear.

yep ill try ad some once i remember how.
the americans use rustoleum its an enamel. i used rust guard by white knight. its an enamel aswell but a diferant type, might me epoxy?
anyway with rustoleum you need to thin it down heaps and do 5 to 8 coats. but rust guard rolls on and drys well thinned only about 20% bit of trial and era tho...
my best advice is use a small high density foam roller. can stress that enough

Have you got a custom intake manifold hidden in there?

I used that to paint the Lada... thinned it a bit much I think but needed to to spray it... worked quite well I reckon just took ages to dry(again likely due to fail thinning)

yeah as I say I think mine was a crappy mix (my fault) not the paint... probably could have sprayed it straight outta the can or close to it... I know for next time

sturdy paint though... looks good too

Dunno whats up with the link, do you copy the IMG or DIRECT address when linking? But anyway will take a better photo of the finished job tomorrow and upload it full size. We shortened it up a little and painted it since here...

Its a factory manifold flipped upside down so the runners are the curving in the right direction and made RB-style. I think it should flow pretty well, but main purpose was to simplify intercooler piping.

I did this on mine, and it actually did cost $50 haha. I used white knight chalkboard paint and a roller, works well on a rough truck, tough finish and looks better when its dirty

Yep I can imagine matt black allways looks dirty lol. Im not sure I can be bothered doing another coat on mine now. It has a little orange peel texture. But I kinda like it, im claiming it as a success. Yew.
