thats the easy part. (tho knowing what plunger works with what cam and how to set the regulator etc takes some know how)
the hard part with VE pumps is matching the timing to suit the engine.

there has been some effort in using the factory turbo pump which has ecu controlled timing. that enables you to use an ecu to fine tune the timing and gain some improvements, especially in low boost situations.
otherwise you have to change pump internals and timing pistons settings to change the timing curve.

most crowds tend to keep the all important details a secret.

theres also a bosh manual on the ve pump addons, eg boost comp, altitude comp, idle ups, cold start, pilot injection etc.
i've got a copy some where......

Winding the fuel screw in allows the control collar to move further up the plunger, increasing the amount of fuel pumped on each stroke. Adjusting the idle screw relieves the governor spring at idle to let the control collar move back down the plunger to decrease the amount of fuel injected at idle. So if you were to adjust only the fuel screw, you would end up with the same control collar travel as before, but along part of the plunger that gives more fuel volume per stroke, hence why idle speed increases.
