Oh and another point (off topic sorry) some of us do organise trips trhat are "more" then just a trip down the river. I personally organise difficult trips to push not only my own but others comfort zones. Just look at the trip we did behind Lake waikatipu last year - 9 days of self sufficency in some pretty remote and isolated country. Feel free to join in anytime, have an exploration trip this weekend on some tracks we have not done on the Old Man Range.

A towbar hitch reciever is safe as long as theres enough meat behind it and its strongly mounted and supported, Jtop did this with my Rugger one and its never come off (and its passed my other clubs stringent towhook specs).

Attaching a hook on its own may not be safe but if you look at how its connected to the chassis and how to stop the vertical and sideways movement on the hook you should be ok, Can anyoen close have a look that is an engineering type?, also the new towbar section that goes back needs to be safe?
