I heard the Prado autos bolt on pretty easy. Would go with that option if i went for a Lexus.

Still alot of other setup costs though.

If you want a prado box you have options of either a hilux surf A343H or a Prado A343F. Hilux one is designed for Centre diffs, Prado for Offset. Both will need a computer to run them.

OK, been playing round with the 40 a bit more....

Am putting 60 Series diffs in which are wider than 40 series. Decided to try a front shackle reversal. Have removed the spring hangers in preperation of swaping them round. Will move them both out by 30 mm (think that was measurement :? ) at same time and leave spring pearches on front diff as is for now....

Image

Once front diff is in will set up the 60 Series power steering box (Steering column already in, and parts all there now just waiting to go in :D ).

Have decided not to play around with the rear spring hangers for now but have drilled a new hole 70mm further back in leaf springs...

Image

This will move my rear diff further back to give a better (not great just better) exit angle...

Image

Will have to trim the wheel arches even with the SOA would get body rub with the 36" swampers...

Image

Need to get this chassis rolling so have ordered some new greasable shackles from 4wdbits (come on Tuesday  ) and have new bushes all ready to go. Just need to replace seals and front disc's.

Will be putting disc's on rear too but just working though what size combo disc's and calipers I need. Here is a shot of the rear Spring pearch which has been cut off and tacked on top 30mm further in (have just tacked in place temp until get gear box in and can work out actual angle needed)...

Image.

Also, came across this at Supercheap for $110 (plus speed camera fine on way there  ) which I will paint whole inside of tub with. Here is the before shot...

Image

Next... Power plant + gearbox then START UP VID

Yea me too, I have bought the stuff but not applied it. It was on special at supercheap for $90. After reading up on it spraying seemed to be the best application method?

Comes with a brush and a roller in the pack. Instructions say it can be sprayed on but i'm going for the roller.

The round roller is a porus sponge that should leave a bumpy surface. I dont want a smooth spray on surface - prefer the authentic rough Rhino style

OK, Picked up my greasable shackles and fix pin and chucked in the rear diff tonight. Think I'm gonna need some flatter springs cause with 31" tryes on the new truck I've got a full 12" of lift over the old 40 running 33's

Will do some thing eventually but realised it makes it pretty easy to work under at the moment

Also, Reckon I've thought of a simple way to do the disc break conversion on the rear. Just got to source parts from wrecker and if it works I'll let you all know . 8)

OK made some progress on the build...

Here is the list of mods I originally posted:

Mod's planned - Start with:
Front Shackle reversal, DONE

Image

Image

Image

Both hangers have been moved out by 30mm.

Front & Rear Spring reversal, DONE

Image

Swapping spring packs for flatter 5 leaf 60 series cruiser ones, DONE

Power steering out of 60 series, GETTING THERE

Put in 60 series front and rear diffs (hub to hub)with disks brakes front (STD) DONE

and rear (80 series), GOING WITH SUBARU ONES NOW

Spring Over Axel conversion. DONE

Image

Just need to get some bolts for my high steer set up:

Image

Image

And for the power steering box and I`ll bolt that up too. Also got to extend shaft from steering column to power steering box by 140mm but once thats done (by end of week) truck will be rolling and steerable! 8)

Quick note for anyone doing SOA with 60 series diffs - you will need longer ubolts unless you swap the spring pearches (which i have done and tacked in place for now) as the lower pearch has an indent for the ubolts to sit in:

Image

Its amazing some of the small things that can make you happy.

Put these flaps in this weekend:

Image

But the coolest mod of all has to be this one:

Image

Hope thats enough photos for you Wopass

Next mod... of to Jonos for the new power plant 8)

Both steering arms are 60 series but all my running gear is 60 series so you would need to stick with 40 series arms. Make sure the third steering arm you get is another left steering arm so when you flip it it points in away from the wheel rim (a right arm will probabily not give sifficient clearance inside the wheel rim).

I`m rethinking the flipped arm ive got as its been pointed out to me that it comes up too high and will reduce the upwards wheel travel (ie hit chassis) on the left side....

Any ideas on where to get a flatter 60 series arm would be appreciated :?:

dont know if its flatter or not, but the 70 series arms are much stronger (to look at anyway) pretty sure the arms are wider than 40 or 60 series arms.
For certification they dont like it when you grind your welds. Dont ask me why but we had to reweld some of the stuff on Nibbys truck to keep the man happy.

Good progress though. You've done more in three months than Nibbys done over the last year

Also, its got a complete heating system for the new wagon (good for keeping windscreen clear)

Rest will make good parts for my old brown 40 - needs new water pump - now sorted

Even reckon I`ll use the seat rails to mount my new seats. :!:

Soo many parts - im in cruiser heaven
