A mini-14 Ruga .223 semi auto with a gunworks muffler and a harris bi pod. Cracks like a magnum .22

This is the muzzle blast from it without the muffler.

I hope you dont live in the city. The neighbours might get a bit grumpy otherwise. Although I guess it depends on the neighbourhood...

Might be a short barrel but it still gets an inch grouping at over a 100m. They guaranty it to the point of replacing the gun if it doesn't. Sooooo. Yeah.

hmmmmmm keeping ammo and bolt seperate I did that and some sob stole the bplts and 200 rounds hand loaded ammo and hunting gear cops not that interested not the rifle and insurance didn't cover it 3 years later found bolts I could afford in hindsit cheaper to buy new rifles but one family heirloom and the others first rifles I bought cops happy with current set up had to renew licence last year

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
I guess at the end of the day it doesn't matter how hard you hide things. If the low life's want to get your car or property? They will. It's only a deterrent. And if a firearm is stolen? I'd be surprised if the Police weren't interested.

Hi Pete,

I'm a little disappointed in your cavalier attitude towards firearms ownership. A safe and a monitored alarm system is no guarantee of stopping a determined thief or a pro. A gun with or without a bolt can still be used for a hold up. Just recently in Canterbury a Collector was cleaned out of all his firearms. I can assure you that to hold a ‘C’ category license; his security would have to be a damn sight better than just an ‘A’ cat.

Also what’s with posting pictures of you firing it next to what appears to be a residential building? You’ve only just got your license, do you really want to loose it again for the sake of showing off?

There are members of the shooting community that work damn hard convincing the government and police that we are all responsible owners. Our rights are constantly under threat and it only takes a handful to ruin it for the rest of us when the arms law goes back up for review.

Just my 2 cents on this thread, I’ve personally invested too much time, money and emotion in to this sport to want to risk loosing it. Please keep in mind that this is a public forum, and there are people out there like Philip Alpers who are constantly on the look out for anything they can use to discredit firearms owners.

I'm not stupid enough to use a firearm in places where they're not safe. I respect your view. So excuse me for showing off. Btw, the firearm was discharged on a farm, miles away from any other dwelling. But it's good that you should take note of that. No one else did.

As far as gun laws go and Philip Alpers constantly on the lookout for anything to discredit firearms owners? Though I hold a gun license. I'm on his side. I say good on him for his work. Personally, I think they should make it harder for people to get a gun license! I felt it was to easy. But that's just my view. They don't even check up on you over a ten year period to make sure you are keeping to gun law protocols.

But again, that's only my 5c worth.

looking at getting a 243 this year, been using me little brothers tika m3 with laepold vx1 scope over xmas, nice gun.

Would be a great evening to go for a bunny shoot around waipara somewhere, bet there are rabbits everywhere.

A little further north they tell me the buggies are a real problem!! Guys are getting 200+ a nite.
I looked at getting a Tika M3 myself. Nice gun. Leupold are good. I have one on my Volguartsen Superlite semi auto 10.22. It's a VX-I 3-9X40mm. The Volguartsen is great for bunnies at a closer range. I have a AimShot laser mounted under the muzzle for those real close up shots. But nothing beats my .204 Weatherby for long distance shots. At 200m a group of bunnies see a mate next the them fall over and keep eating. It's really funny.

If your keen Matt. Would be cool to get a small group of us out for a shoot up there sometime soon. Maybe checkout some 4X4 tracks at the same time? I'm always keen to kill two birds with one stone, safely of course. Keep in touch dude.

ive been up the back of hawarden a few times lately over xmas new year, and yes there are 100's of the little buggars!

tika t3 stainless synthetic 7mm08 and magtek 22 pretty similar set up to jaffa but in the south we got muscles so i havnt got a jenny craig tika

Here's a closer look at the Weatherby .204 . Now this thing has amazing accuracy. I love it! And the muffler makes it very practical to use on bunnies. Makes a massive difference.

I have got a Mcpherson compound bow set at 60lbs, 28inch draw, 125 gram thunderheads.

Changed to bow hunting when I got out of the army and love it.

me and my dad use .223 n 25-06 for wallybie and goat shooting and also for long distance shots,.22 n .22 magum on rabbits and possums , we just bought a cannon a 7mmWSM with muzzel break but stil needs sighting in which should be fun ,will probly use it for tahr/chamios and deer hunting,wonder what it would do to a rabbit.each round for it is around $2.50

Haha another 204 fan i have a ruger ultra light with 4-16 ao scope best kill yet is bugs bunny at 426m

.270 ruger m77 . really good acurate gun. Use it on deer mainly but also pigs wallabies goats (gets a little expensive though)
Also own a marlin .22 bolt action 7 shot VERY acurate, bought it new and has been awsome. Last year did away with my double barrel shotty and invested in a mossberg pump action, and am pleased with it.

There are people out there just watching and waiting for something they like to pop up and with pics of your trucks it only takes one visit to the Post Office and they have your name and address and the list of your firearms you just gave them. PUT YOUR THINKING CAPS ON GUYS. It may seem cool to show off all your firearms to people you don't know and make up stories about what you do with them, but PLEASE be a little bit more responsible and DON'T MAKE ALL GUN OWNER LOOK LIKE IDIOTS! As for pics of you girlfriends holding guns.........PLEASE..

What feet per second does your Ruger push a pill at? It won't be as fast as a .204 bud. It won't be going over 4000fps as the .204 does

Over 400m kill huh? Ok.

.204 is slowly becoming the caliber to buy above all others. To be honest though. If mine didn't have a muffler on it i wouldn't be that keen on using it. Coz it's so frigin loud!!

YES!! the Queensland calibres are sometimes inspired, I had a 303.25 for a while, a No.4 with 25.5 inch barrel. shot like crazy too!

Didint have a chronogarph at the time, they were available, but just a distant dream for us then.

Going by recommended loads, though, I guess close to 3000fps would be a ballpark figure.
Can you confirm if you have a chronograph?
Do you use it much?

I don't have a chrono but I think mine are doing about 2800-2900fps 100gn,I had some factory ones that were about 2700fps I think 87gr.

I got it as a cheap back up gun a few years ago so I don't use it much but I do really like it when I do use it!
It got me my best stag so far last year.
