get out with the welly crowd first - they have a range of vehicles. See what one you like the feel of, vehicles that is  I would recomend a zuk (completely bias), but you may find it too small, a crusier may look the business, but you may find they are too heavy or big etc. You will get every fawkin opinion on what is better than the other (the nissan vs toyota debate is soo ####### old its beyond a joke, yet some people on here still seem too be amused by it  )
Try and get your missus involved, opens the purse strings considerably  , so consider that in a vehicle choice as well.

So everyone agrees that you should buy a cruiser

BTW I'm going to run a terawhiti trip next sunday or the sunday after, put that in your diary and tell your missus she is coming too....we can sort out the seats later.... should be a few different vehicles to look at.

like Rex says.... buying a 4x4 is no different to buying a car, theres all different types and tastes and too many choices. Your best off just starting with something that apeals to your intrest and fits your budget.....

that sounds like a good idea but unfortunately have the sis in law up next sun and very probably the ma in law the weekend after so those 2 weekends are booked out (kinda gotta stay in the inlaws good books...lol) plus the missus has already put her foot down on ever going out where ther could be mud....lol plus she's the worst passenger around.... but i will try and get out with the welly guys when a chance finally turns up....(just gotta keep the missus happy till then  )

hmm i'm sure bonfires and drinking at woolsheds would certainly bring back memories of her youth...lol (central otago woolshed parties.... ) i'm sure a bottle of tequila or vodka would be a great bribe for her....lol
