Yeah fuckyou very much Rex
The trip on the ferry was going to cost about 500 return, then accomidation, gas, plus a few thing that i should do to my truck before an event like that its looking that it will cost over a thouusand, little out to my reach at the moment due to my daily driver packing a sad. Will aim to make one at a later date.

I'm sure I could manage a tax deductable donation but I guess the $1k target will be a bit hard to reach

Entries were to close tomorrow....
We have only 2 entries so far from outside Marlborough - and 8 local trucks. We will run the event at that, but would prefer to have more entries - we can manage up to 24 competitors. We will accept late entries until a week before the event (29 Sept)

We'll be a bit disappointed if there aren't a few late entries - the sponsors have really come to the party. First prize value around $700. And LOTS of smaller prizes. All competitors will go home with something...

Text message from Bruce (Hughes) basically said it was an awesome and well run event. He drove the Hilux hybrid up. Don't know any results.

Apologies to all for not getting a summary of the event out. One of our "Lessons Learned" is the need to get marshalls to take photo's & collect them afterwards... None of us took a camera so lots of good opportunities were missed. Next time around we'll try to get them centralised & send a CD out to all competitors.
We felt the event went pretty well. There were 14 entries in the end. Some damage, but it was all at different places, so we blame it on the drivers, rather than any particular stages causing the problems. Most routes were deliberately kept tight with plenty of trees & rocks to wind around. Too much pace led to panel damage, but speeds were kept low enough so there was little risk of serious injury. There were no sidling sections, and the steep sections were taken square on, with compulsory winch sections designated where we thought there was potential to go wrong if it was attempted to drive them. The closest thing to a rollover to my knowledge was a local truck which "flopped" on it's side entering a flat bog too fast & bouncing off the ruts.
Speaking of "Next Time"....
We're planning to do it all again over Queens Birthday weekend 31 May - 2 June. A winter event will make the tracks a bit more difficult, and ensure the fire risk isn't a problem. The plan is to have a couple of night stages on the Saturday, then the main event all day Sun. Mon for repairs & travel home.
We have a number of new tracks, and enough variation on the "old" ones to provide new challenges to those coming back. Once again, it will not be open to the general public for spectators, but competitor's support crews will be welcome. There are concerns with security, road congestion, and disturbance to stock if there are too many visitors. We'll welcome any volunteers for marshalls. We'd like to have enough marshalls so we can rotate them around a little so they can do a bit of spectating as well.
So pencil the dates in your diaries and come along for a fun-filled weekend....

Entries open now for the next round!
Queens Birthday Weekend in Blenheim. Sat 31 May - scrutineering and 4 night stages (optional non-scoring stages for Clubman Class). Sun 1 May - 12 stages - all longer and more challenging than last year with Clubman on different lines through the rough bits so they don't have to drag through 36in ruts.
Entry fee $150 - limited to 25 entries.
