We could camp at waipakahe??

Trouble is its not really non-road legal friendly around there, there are plenty of tracks, all in a short drive along the road, but still need to load vehicles onto the trailer.

We also might strike/get ourselves into trouble just followin our noses on Doc land around the base of the mountain.

Would be awesome if we could spend a weekend in the 42nd following our noses, but since a kiwi got run over in there a lil while ago, and the strict doc rules thats totally of the question to. Sigh, oneday maybe

IMHO the best idea is that we could all head to Minginui or Pureora. Both have HEAPS of 4wheeling, its off the beaten track so Non-road legal friendly, good camping, and we know we are alowed to be there doing what we are doing. Infact, i think the Ngaroma block at Pureora would benefit from some seriouse use, and the theres Bogg Inn etc etc over the other side of the mountain a short drive away.

We could camp at the Ngaroma block and get wasted and cause all the 4x4 carnage we want with out anyone batting an eyelid, or book in at the forest HQ and behave but live in luxury. The HQ is central to both Ngaroma block and the tracks on the other side.

The Ngaroma block caters for all vehicle types, and the tracks on the other side are more challenging 8) They rate as cooooooooool 8)

There is heaps of stuff in Miniginui from what i have seen from pic's on the net, but i don't know my way round there at this stage. Hoping to learn in a few weeks

now I don't want to be an enforcer and sound like a moaner, but if you follow your nose in the 42 traverse, you can only do one thing and thats follow the main track. anything else is strictly out of bounds.

p.s. its 42, not the 42nd, but thats been said lots before.

Cheers

aah thats better. I agree, if you go in from the mountain end and stop not far up the road you can see shitloads of tracks on your left that we are unfortunately not allowed in. The worse thing is that you can see that all the bikes and quads have been in there and they never seem to get told off, yet as soon as a big ol 4wd goes anywhere near the place, someone will dob you in real quick. aaarrgh. its the same shit different day.

oh well we'll just keep doing as we're told and going only where we are allowed and hopefully one day someone will give us lots more playgrounds to explore

GRRRRRRRRRRRR

Oh Jezza, "Gesundite) or how you spelt it is NOT slope-ish, its Kraut-ish!!

Bloody army is STILL not answering calls or being at all forthcoming, yet I see elsewhere that there was a club wandering around with guides????

DB, I and many others, would like some place to explore, there is only so much fascinating fun to be extracted from throw onesself into a mud puddle to see if you can get out!! You know Pureora better then I now, what other scope is there? Have to get a leave pass, going bush for a week on the 7/7/07 may be hard to get leave so soon afta..........

yes it is. the road up to the ski fiel however id a road and anyone can use it. if the weather report is anything to go by you may want to dress very warm and take chains and spade etc. snow is forecast..... thats if the desert road is even open  it is a nice gravel road with a few little bits of intrest on the way up and fantastic views on a clear day.

opps  didnt mean to sound serious. just didnt want to stick a comment in with no relation to any that had been posted in a while without explaination.

BS is good  (but it distracts me from being in the shed working on the toy. :?

I'll be in for 2 as that is about as big as the leave pass will get. Be a 4 day trip with travel and missus will get sad if i leave her with baby and toddler for to long.
