Mine had the shakes when hitting potholes etc, regreased the swivel hubs which made a big difference (shim removed).
Just bought a set of wheel bearings and swivel kit from oz for $300 for future rebuilds, pick it up when over there next week.

I have been in contact with Dave. He is still the same honest guy that I bought the diffs off. He said to me the same thing that he said when he sold me the diffs, The diffs were in good condition when they left his house from a low kilometer vehicle with a new wof and reg prior to the diffs being removed. We are both stumped becuase when they arrived here they had leaky swivels??? Swapped over between shipping? possible? but who would know what they were? I am confused and I really didnt want to cause a fuss but just wanted to get in contact with Dave. Anyway being the honest dude that he is (unlike some other people on trademe and the likes that will rip you blind and lie to your face) he is sending me a cheque to cover some of the cost of the front diff rebuild.

Thanks Dave and I will let know how I get on. Im sorry for any problems I have caused and any nastyniss I have created. I shouldn't have titled the the thread the way I have titled it but I was starting to worry with PM's not being read and emails comming back un-delivered. I should have PM'd nuts much before I started this thread....

Regards
James

James, as rokhound said the rebuild might not fix the shakes.
My cruiser shakes at certain speeds with my 35" tyres but not when I run my 33" tyres.
If Smurf is following this topic he may be able to help. I know Leo (his father inlaw--- I think ) had reel bad wobbles with his Jeep when he ran his Super Swampers, that bad that it brought it to a standstill. Smurf what did Leo do to fix this :?: .

I FIX THE SHAKES BY HAVING A FEW MORE  ,

PS, Good to hear you have got it sorted with Dave, Haven't met a bad

I have talked to multiple people that have had the same problem with nissan diffs..... They have told me that they have rebuilt the swivels and replaced wheel bearings etc and that solves the problem. With the amount of play in the swivels that you get when you jack it up and shake the wheels it tells me that its the same problems that others have had with nissans.

Hey there Mr O, I too had the Hell shakes in my Safa, had to come to near a complete stop to keep driving. Dont know how you have set up your diff but I sorted my prob by replacing the trailing arm bushes and packing out the front bush to roll the diff forward......never had an issue since then even with the 35" on.

Just my 2 cents........Good Luck!!

Had the same problem on an old Landrover, fitted a decent stearing damper, and that sure fixed that problem.

Caveat emptor (Let the Buyer Beware)

It's a hard lesson James but it happens and throwing the toys out of the cot and blaming often doesn't achieve anything, other times it does. The trick is finding out whens the times right and when it's not. In this case i think it was clear to most people that it was not a time to throw your toys.

But you are young and a valuable lesson was learnt, allowances have to made for your age

The most important thing learnt is that there is always to sides to the story and not to shoot your mouth off half loaded.

You have impressed me with the fact that you turned around and admitted that you were wrong, and you did it openly, honestly and with integrity. No shame in that. There's a lesson/reminder there for all of us.

You made the comment that you were still a boy, that may be true but admitting that maybe you were wrong is a sign of a man.

An sometimes nobody is to blame, shit just happens, learn the lesson and move on

Is it possible they were damaged during Transit and if so is there any recourse with who carried it?

Gone bad alright. We have temporally installed my spare pair of radius arms. Will get these bushes swapped around and it should be all good.

Still needed the bearings done though as they were fairly knackered.

Yes Dave had his truck lifted and some company down south did the the castor correction but had the radius arms sent away to have the bushes pressd out and and the new ones in so possibly the press operators fault?
