I just used self drilling screws(flat head) straight through the flare and guard....I didnt use any washers so if and when they get caught up and
rip off they wont pull any of the guard with them....
and ill keep a batery drill in my truck to reattach them

Shot up to bombay and picked up the new TJ. Soft top has seen better days, but is still ok (clean it tomorrow). Catalytic converter is rattly as hell, so must replace that (wink wink..... with A GAS AX!!!). Took bumper ends off as soon as i got home.
Going to take a bit of readjusting to being in the mud with a manual, but im sure it will be fun to reaquaint myself.



wifes on the left - 2 inch lift, mine on the right - 4.5 to 5 inch (need to get stock measurements to establish exact height)

Tow hooks to go on tomorrow (if dixie can remember to drop them off!!!) steering wheel cover and canvas seat covers to go on too, along with RT

Well hit this piss Saturday with a mate and finished off a bottle of whisky before starting another on. Got into bed and remembered I actually had work on Sunday so had to set alarm for 7.45am. Headed into work with a big cup of coffee and have spent the day here feeling like crap. Would have rather spent the day doing something constructive but have to pay for parts some how i guess

Well fitted the hinge found out it easier to take the front guard off as well now it closes like a new car, pleased as

Got the rt mounted and wired up. Brought some swish seat covers and slapped em in. Dixie finally arrived with me towhooks (actually his mrs did, he bloody forgot them again), the front one went in sweet as, but the rear one was blocked by a freaking towbar mount bracket.... out with the drill.... SORTED!!!!

You should go to the dealers and get them to park a stock one next your TJs. That way people can compare stock, stock + 2" lift, stock + 5" lift....

Its kind of an evolutionary process for the rest of us.

.... or ill park out two up side by side, and "go for a test drive" and bring a stock one home..... I intended to go to Royale Cars today, who have one in their yard, but its been pissing down all day.

Sorted front and rear brakes, fitted a ugly factory front bumper just to get WOF and until I find time to make bars.

Got pist at my apprentices 21st last night! first night in about 12 years I had to sleep with a bucket by the bed just in case! never needed it thank Christ!

Yep, I did all that and had a great time and watched NZs number 1 driver nearly get beaten by the South African driving the kiwis truck.

Then on my way home, I got a phone call to go rescue some noddy who went pig hunting and never put it in 4wd and then went places I would never go on my own in 4wd.

Yes, I took a pic, but I got too excited and forgot to take the first pic when he was buried up to the running boards in the bog. This pic is just after I started winching him out.



We then had to drive it out some of the way for him coz he didn't want to ( chicken shit). made some coin for my troubles, so it was worth it.
That was my weekend.

saturday got a bellhousing, gearbox and transfer as a spare off tm....

sunday went wheeling at the ashley..

rusty didnt want to glow up to begin with, so goose hotwired glowies and 'zinged' her into life, all was well apart from a noise slowly creeping into the fray of other rattles and clunks with rusty, after lunch it ended up being the alt had bound up and after engine had stopped it was too bound up to restart...

nothing a bit of crc (read empty the can into it!) and a big pair of vice grips couldnt free up, went ok, allbeit noisey, for the rest of the day..

pics will be posted at a later date as cant post from inlaws comp..

well saturday got pissed all afternoon and night then suday morning off 4x4ing till abt 12.30 got home later got a txt (HELP) we stuck so had to go to the 1 k track and tow a guy out ... got back to my place and cleaned up his alternater as it was so full of muck it stoped workin ...
found his brushess hardly working due to worn so small hope to put in new brushes 2morrow morning and get him on his way back to chch

had to winch him so far, and then get myself out and turn around and strop the rest of the way with 2 x 9 metre strops joined together.
the hill he had come down was slippery as hell. I was sideways with my near new mud tyres on, and he had bald A/Ts. go figure, only in a nissan

I have had trouble with with the glow timer in my truck, I have wired a switch to override the glow timer.
cheaper that an after-market timer
I can do a sketch if you wish

Dix was keen to go, but i was piking out, warm and dry in the workshop

Spent Sat. chasing a fault I'd already fixed but 'cause I was using the wrong test method thought it was still there

This arvo joined some mates at a friends farm and had a play in the mud ...



Not a great photo but it will be a couple of days till I get all the good ones from my mate that took heaps.

Finially fully moved into my new workshop. All I have to do now is bolts down things like drill press and vice etc etc. Love how I have so much work space now and I can actually fit the disco INSIDE the garage and even work on it fairly comfortably!! Here's a couple of pic's I am yet to put the TV and couch up the top but we have carpeted it up there

Also Got a little work done on the front diff of the disco, Got the knuckles off and took em up to Doddzee's so we can press the wheel bearings out etc and then reassemble at a later date

I lead an ORE assn trip up the Poulter river (Canterbury...all the way ), and a enjoyable day, had one of my boys with me and as usual I think he had more fun than me although I think he needs driving lessons
I had a blast climbing the creek bed up the scree .....thank god for Marlin crawler
But unfortunately it was at a little cost , my wife had our 3rd child, a little girl.....I missed by 11mins
But she's all there and healthy so not too much drama's, mum's not upset with me as I had a good support network set up for today
and as murphy would have it
